90-year-old Sidney couple die in crash in Fairfield

FAIRFIELD, Maine (AP) — Maine police say a man and wife who were both 90 years old died in a car accident in Fairfield.

The couple, Henry Bacon and his wife, Priscilla, of Sidney, were killed around 5:20 p.m. Wednesday when their car was struck as they tried to make a left turn from Route 139 into a gas station. The other car was driven by 27-year-old Anthony Silvestri of Madison.

WCSH-TV says the Bacons died at the scene and Silvestri was not injured.

The accident remains under investigation.

still under investigation

The story didn't give any information as to the cause of the accident, you're assuming it was the fault of the deceased driver. Maybe the other driver was speeding, we won't know until the investigation is completed. Sorry you suffered some type of trama from a relatives accident, but I don't believe you are qualified to determined who is at fault and you really should keep your opinions to yourself. My sympathies to the Bacon family.

Truth in Reporting Please

I really wish the SJ would report the truth about what happened in accidents like this instead of being misleading or sugar coating. The truth here is the Bacons failed to yield the right of way and turned in front of oncoming traffic. If you aren't a discriminating logical reader you might think the poor Mr Silvestri who did nothing wrong but will live the rest of his life with this is at fault. This is important. A family member of mine hit a drunken pedestrian walking down the middle of a rural road with no street lights 20 years ago after the drunk had already been taken home three times that night by police for walking down that road. As police said, this was not my family members fault but, it has not made it any easier. He still has nightmares about it and fees tremendous guilt even though his car was in perfect working order and he was not speeding. The man was drunk, in dark clothing, walking down the middle of an unlit rural road. The way SJ writes these incidents up does not help anyone.

Tracy, when I read this story

Tracy, when I read this story I thought about what a terribly sad end this is to two long lives. And then reading your bitter and mean spirited comment.... Sugarcoated or not, can't you spare a soft word out of your usual wordiness for the tragedy that this was? Or better yet, just STFU.
Condolences to all involved, I am so very sorry that this happened, and for your loss.
