She understands

Deborah Simpson was part of the Democratic Legislature that reduced the state budget by $800 million, and supported the railroad bond that strategically addresses Maine's business competitiveness.

She also helped fund Efficiency Maine, which strategically and tactically addresses Maine's personal and business energy costs. Likewise, she supported increased access to health care at more affordable cost — another strategic move for Maine people and Maine businesses.

I'm voting for the candidate in Senate District 15 who has more than a clue.

I'm voting for Deb Simpson.

John Henderson, Auburn

Vote for Lois Snowe-Mello

Deb Simpson. Peggy Rotundo. Margaret Craven. Dick Wagner. While I'm sure they are all nice people, they have been in the Legislature for FAR too long and, along with other revolving seat Democrats, have helped bring our State to the sad condition it is in today. Borrow, tax, spend...calling all spending an "investment", which most of it clearly is not. This State has got to reduce its spending and lower taxes (and regulations) to attract businesses that offer good paying jobs and benefits, which will allow citizens to have a higher standard of living. This will be a huge challenge for the next Governor and Legislature as they grapple the underfunded State employee pension system in addition to the always-present, never-ending State budget problems. A final point: how has the constant re-election of Simpson, Rotundo, Craven, and Wagner helped L-A? I have never seen any great benefit to our area because of their seniority in the party that has ruled this State for the past 40 years.

Smoke and Mirrors

Maine government spending increased by about $200 million last year. That is a fact. Mr. Henderson is trying to get us to believe that Simpson is fiscally responsible by using words that mean very little.

When the Democrats say they "cut the budget" by $800 million, they actually spent $800 million less than the were scheduled to spend in their wish list. In the end, they still spent $200 million more than they did the year prior.

Ms. Simpson remains just what she always was. A tax and spend liberal.
