LePage accepts invite to White House reception

AUGUSTA, Maine (AP) — The Maine candidate who made the "go to hell" remark about President Barack Obama has accepted an invitation to attend a White House reception.

An adviser to the president called to extend congratulations to Maine's Republican Gov.-elect Paul LePage and to invite him to a reception for new governors on Dec. 2 in Washington.

LePage said Friday: "Absolutely, I'll be there."

LePage made headlines after a Democratic aide videotaped his response to fishermen who were complaining at a forum that federal regulations threatened their livelihoods. LePage responded that "you're going to be seeing a lot of me on the front page, saying 'Governor LePage tells Obama to go to hell.'"

I'm sure LePage will be

I'm sure LePage will be cordial when he meets Obama. What no one ever mentions is that LePage's remark came during a discussion with commercial fishermen. If, as the discussion was going, Obama says that he intends to recommend to NOAA that days at sea for fishermen is further reduced, LePage will have the opportunity to reprise his statement.

I don't imagine the subject will come up.

Maybe he can apologize for

Maybe he can apologize for the whole "go to hell" thing and try to state things off on the right foot.

Or maybe he will rationally

Or maybe he will rationally explain that he never said it, what he said was if he declined the money the NEWSPAPERS headlines the next day would say LePage tells OBAMA to go to hell....the liberal media twisted it and then reran it now....but yeah they are so fair an unbiased....

What will he say to our President

Is seems that LePage likes being in the limelight and all the benefits that go with it. Tell me, Mr. LePage, what will you say to our President? Will you tell him you don't want federal money, like you claimed during the campaign? Will you tell him that he is not welcomed in the State of Maine, like you did during the campaign? Will you tell him that he can go to hell, like you did during the campaign? If you are a honest man, it would seem to me that you have to tell him these things. Mitch McConnell told the President to shove it so I would expect you will do the same.

"Our" president? That's a bag

"Our" president? That's a bag that all of us have not jumped into. Let me be clear; he is not MY president. He is an embarrassment to our nation. He is nothing more than a hapless incompetent who is the least qualified person in every room he walks into. He has managed to make Jimmy Carter the second worst president in our history. I hope Governor LePage tells oBAMa all of the things dlaurels suggests.

sorry Pirate,

unless you are not a citizen of this country, Obama IS your President. You don't have to like him or his policies. But he IS President of the United States.
