Best face for GOP

As a Republican, it is a sad state of affairs when considering who to choose to run for president in 2012. But there is a bright light here in Maine.
Sen. Olympia Snowe has provided the framework for the Republican Party and what it needs most. Republicans have a contender in Snowe, but chose the media darlings of Sen. John McCain and Gov. Sarah Palin, who rather like to play in front of the cameras.
Instead of relying on intellect, Republicans are leaning to those people who foster the one-sided idea that conservatives and liberals are at war.
Republicans should consider a more compromising stance. Snowe seems to be willing to listen to both sides. McCain and Palin have tried to make conservatives into a firebrand simply trying to control what issues are voted on. That makes people think that the Republican Party is close-minded  and embraces neo-Nazi tactics of limiting speech.
Conservatives do not need to define the Democrats as socialists. We can work together.
Party leadership looking for reform should sponsor a viable candidate such as Snowe to be the front-runner for 2012. Sen. Snowe represents the better plank and parts of the party.
I am hoping the GOP will embrace her and turn the party around.

I used to think Palin was a

I used to think Palin was a breath of fresh air and maybe some sort of hope for the Republican party but the more she parades around in front of cameras and tends to act more like some sort of celebrity the more I lose confidence in her. But Snowe is not the answer either, and never will be.

Olympia is a wonderful

Olympia is a wonderful Senator and one of the nicest people you would ever want to meet. Obviously Mainers like her voting record because she wins by historic margins. But the rest of the country's Republicans believe her to be too liberal for their taste, so
she would have an uphill battle to secure the GOP nomination.

If I had to pick the perfect nominee, I would choose General David Petraeus. With the world becoming more dangerous by the week, we need another Eisenhower in the White House. Obama is putting our nation in danger from a military and economic position. General Petraeus is the right man for the times.

When only about 23% or 24%

When only about 23% or 24% are willing to call themselves republicans, there is a problem. I, for one, don't think all republicans are as bat s**t insane as the few setting the planet wingnuttia agenda and parading around in the national media. There must be some common ground, but when the best they can come up with is "oh noes! socialism!" and teabagging, the road back to the mainstream is going to be a long, steep, and never ending one.

Hi Lil just working on a few

Hi Lil just working on a few college projects. I think Gil's proving everyday what's wrong with my party. The crack pipe remark simply shows that Gil is still a bully and still wants to take away credit from anyone.

There must be some level headed, reasonable republicans out there somewhere. Will one please step forward?

Sarah Palin gets my vote for

Sarah Palin gets my vote for the head of the Republican ticket. Just think...years of wonderful fun fodder for late night telly! The best comedy writers can't make up better material. You goooooooo girl!!

"The White House can drive its inhabitants loopy. So at least Sarah Palin is ahead of the curve on that one.

“We need those who will respect our Constitution,” said Palin, who swore on the Bible to uphold the Constitution. She said she can’t fulfill that silly old oath of office in the usual way because she’s not “wired to operate under the same old politics as usual.”

Naturally, she dragged the troops in, saying that her trip to see wounded soldiers overseas “fortified” her decision to give up because “they don’t give up.” [NY Times 7/5]

President Palin...no laugh track needed!

joe, put down the crack

joe, put down the crack pipe. Snowe is everything that is wrong with the GOP today. She proved it beyond a shadow of a doubt when she voted for the clown-in-chief's $800 billion omnibus spending/pork bill. She proves it every time she backs the dems in her bid to placate them by going against her own party. She needs to go, and a real Conservative needs to step up. The boy king is well on his way to bankrupting this country along with nationalizing all of our major corporation in his bid for a Socialist regime. To have one of the few who could actually stand in his way turn against her party at a desperate time of need shows her to be the vacuous hag RINO that has no place in the Conservative party. To think she is the face of the party is beyond stupid, it's just plain ignorant.
