A new graffiti message adorns the former Cowan Mill site in Lewiston as seen from the Auburn side of the Androscoggin River.

Well you know it isn't a Teabagger... first of all because of the message, second it is spelled correctly.
even the left leaning NY Times reported finding that Tea Party backers are better educated than the general public. As is evident from the asinine statement above.
instead of touchy feely graffiti, the cities invest in resurfacing the wall and tearing down the eyesore that lies behind it.
That's what I wanna be when I grow up...a Donut Nazi and throw folks out of my shop when they dare ask for a good old plain, heavy doughnut fried in lard.
"No lard for you!"
No matter what a graffiti "artist" paints, the message is the same: "Abandon hope all ye who enter here."
Caustic, but painfully accurate, oj.
My grandfathers broke their backs building those. Even if it's just the foundations left, it's very hurtful to me to see that someone has written all over it. Go write on your own stuff!
Thugs just want us to know that the Police aren't watching and they can do whatever they damn well please to any of us.
Thus the need for a Dunkin' Donuts at that location.
whaddaya got, the munchies?
MO 4....You are treading where angels fear to tread. You led off with a "civil" comment. 0O:-)
I just worry about Tim Horton's being discriminated against. Is there such a thing as a "donut racist"?

vandalism is ok. Now wait for the copy-cat graffitti and the expense to remove it.
At least it doesn't say HOPE AND CHANGE; or CHANGE WE CAN BELIEVE IN.
Or the infamous "It's Happening Here", cuz we all know it truly isn't...
Apparently Lewiston is now controlled by the Hope Love Gang, I pray there is not an all out war between them and the Dream and Possibilities Gang. I like it kudos to the artist nice job, Not all graffiti is an eye sore, Turning a pile of rubble onto something positive priceless.
Funny comment. Thumbs up.

Like it all you want, people, but it's still against the law. Defacing the property of others is vandalism, a punishable offense. Everything is so touchy-feely now.
Piece of work..done by a very articulate person...It is the sign of the times...all captured in this one picture...Thank You, Richard Whiting, for sharing it.

I see nothing wrong with this. Its better than some of the crap you see on railcars everyday.I just hope the city doesnt have some idiot paint over this. Now that would be an eyesore.....
Kinda gives folks coming from the Longley bridge into the Dirty Lewiston a cozy third world bombed out effect. This generates a warm thankful feeling. Sorta like "thank God I don't have to live there."

I know someone who could use a little love, hope and life.
And an individual's home and a pile of rubble are two completely separate things. No, I wouldn't want this sprayed on the side of my house - but I also wouldn't want a business sign, billboard, The Mona Lisa, etc... on the side of my house either - but there's a home for those.
Anything POSITIVE coming out of LEWISTON is a good thing ! Its wrong to do it but the message is a good one ! Tron I see your as nasty as ever maybe the PD will be @a DD when you need them ........ One can only HOPE !!!!
Actually, there's one right around the corner, so I feel perfectly safe. Sorry1
The picture also shows the majesty of the Basilica. It towers in the background from close to a mile away.
...a flag being flown at half staff in the background. If the "Love Life" message doesn't hit home with that visual...nothing will.
The more I look at this photo, the more interesting it becomes.
Graffiti is usually an eyesore. Look at the surroundings in this picture. The graffiti is actually rather pleasant and everything else is an eyesore. The Falls is the most naturally scenic spot in Lewiston. It's an embarrassment that this is how it looks.
Every morning I cross that bridge into Lewiston for work. I've noticed this graffiti and have been curious who did it, and under what purpose. I have to say though, it makes me feel good to see that positive message "Love Life" each day. It sure does make one take pause and think...and can quickly turn a thought of despair into one of hopefulness.
Thank you...
But would you wnat the same graffiti sprayed painted on the side of your house by some vandals? The message is irrelevant.
Maybe they should put a Dunkin' Donuts nearby, then maybe the cops would stop this foolishness.
