AUGUSTA, Maine (AP) — With a Senate vote pending, Maine's two congressional representatives are on record as voting to pass the so-called Dream Act, which would give hundreds of thousands of foreign-born youngsters brought to the U.S. illegally a shot at legal status.
Democratic Reps. Chellie Pingree and Mike Michaud joined 214 other House members Wednesday to pass the bill, while 198 voted against it. President Barack Obama wants the Senate to approve it so he can sign it into law.
Supporters point to a Congressional Budget Office report that says enacting the bill would reduce deficits by about $1.4 billion over the 2011-2020 period.

Huh... who'da thunk it...
No mention whatsoever in the paper that the plug was pulled on the "Dream Act?" You can bet your last hard earned tax dollar this rag would have been crowing from the rooftops had it passed. I'm just surprised they didn't publish something bashing "those naughty Republicans" for shooting it down.

Breaking news for all you libs who wish to give amnesty to criminals - The Senate has effectively killed the DREAM act bill. No lame duck passage, try your nightmare some other time.

Didn't think anyone could answer this question. Instead, a Republican disagreed to a question! You're just so intelligent.

Hey Pirate,
How much money do you think was wasted on Bush's unnecessary war for oil in Iraq? Bet it's more than 100 "Dream Acts" that will actually help reindustrialize America, though surely someone like you prefers a worthless war to capital investment. It's one among many reasons why Republicans are so damaging to America. They prefer their own fears, ignorance, and biases to reality.

It's interesting how uninformed right wingnuts posting here really are. They'd prefer America to open up an endless two front war, one war completely unnecessary, rather than try to reindustrialize and educate America. If these buffoon Republicans gain more power than America really will become a third world nation. Keep in mind, if it were up to Republicans, America wouldn't have Social Security, Medicare, civil rights legislation ... oops ... this last one, surely it flares the synapses of the "deep south" Republican party. Republican: Ignorant. Angry. Worthless.

visine shows his ignorance and lack of education. It wasn't Republicans who tried to filibuster the Civil Rights Act. It was Democrats. Notably, the former Klansman Byrd held a 14 hour rambling tirade to stop the vote. It was also Bubba's mentor Fulbright, and the liar AL Gore's own father who were instrumental in attempting to stop the Civil Rights Act. A little truth goes a long way visine.

Did we really need another reason to get rid of Michaud and Pingree? They should have been ousted in November, now we have to put up with them for two more years.

It's interesting that something that represents a nightmare for American taxpayers has been labeled the "Dream Act." Of course, the name was concocted by none other than Whorehouse Harry Reid. I defy anyone to prove to me that he isn't Alfred E. Neuman's third son.

how giving Pell grants or paychecks to illegal aliens is going to reduce the deficit. I'd also like to know why my tax dollars, American citizen tax dollars, are going to be spent either sending illegals to school or paying for them to serve in service positions.
It is my understanding that after completing 2 years of service or school, they will get their citizenship. What this amounts to is paying illegals who, (whether or not it's their fault,) are in violation of immigration laws.
Where do I sign up to get paid for breaking the law???
