High-speed chase ends in crash

SCARBOROUGH — A man with a history of driving violations faces multiple charges after leading police on a brief, drunken chase on the turnpike in Scarborough, Maine State Police said Monday.

State Police attempted to stop Anthony Teabout, 41, of Vassalboro, who was driving without a license plate on his car, at the toll booth near exit 42. Instead of stopping, Teabout accelerated,  reaching speeds of 100 mph, Department of Public Safety Spokesman Steve McCausland said in a press release.

The chase ended just two miles later, when, after exiting the turnpike onto Interstate 295, Teabout's 2006 Dodge Charger rear-ended a minivan with three children inside. Two received minor injuries, McCausland said.

Teabout, who has four prior convictions for driving with a suspended license, was hospitalized with injuries to his ribs and face, McCausland said.

Police charged Teabout with operating under the influence, eluding police and being an aggravated habitual offender, according to the press release.

Why Would..

The police continue to chase him at such high speeds?...on the turnpike?...then onto 295 where he could have killed those children?...I'm happy to hear that things turned out okay, but was it really worth the publics risk to chase this guy?....This guy should never be allowed a Maine Driver's License AGAIN!!!!

How about assault with a deadly weapon?

He could have killed people on the road. This guy needs to have the book thrown at him.
