Auburn lawmaker decides against bid for governor

LEWISTON — State Rep. Brian Bolduc, D-Auburn, has decided not to run for governor. Earlier this summer he had said he was thinking of jumping into the gubernatorial race.

"I'm glad I kicked the ball around a little; my nature is not to stand around and scratch the back of my head, but patience is a virtue too," he said in a written statement.

The race for the Blaine House has attracted a field of 18 candidates so far, according to the state records. Of those registered to run, there are six Democrats, five Republicans, five Unenrolled and two Green Independents. Gov. John Baldacci, a Democrat, is barred from running for re-election due to term limits.

Bolduc, who served four years in the State Legislature in the late 1990s, was elected again in 2008. But he said his lack of political experience contributed to his decision.

"I learned that the first thing needed to develop political support with integrity in the Democratic party's race for governor is to present a well-developed political resume and I will need more time to do this," he said.

Old Bill, I heartily concur

Old Bill, I heartily concur with your sentiments and those expressed by the other posters. Rep. Bolduc has too many skeletons in his closet, which would be exposed in a statewide campaign. He does not want to be subjected to that level of scrutiny by the media or other inquiring minds. Thank you for sparing us the melodrama even though it promised to be quite entertaining.

Thank God! If this moron

Thank God! If this moron had attained the Blaine House, there's no telling what damage he could have inflicted on the state! Yes, this is the ONLY good decision the idiot has made.

Get a grip. You nothing about this young man except he has a "D" after his name. Your blind hatred of people based on nothing but party affiliation is what is wrong with this country. You should really be ashamed of yourself.
