Elijah Akerley, 14, of Lewiston flies out of the big bowl Monday afternoon at the Lewiston Skate Park. With the snow finally melted, skateboarders from far and wide have returned.

Elijah Akerley, 14, of Lewiston "Ollies" onto the stair rail to grind down it at the Lewiston Skate Park Monday afternoon. With the snow finally melted at the park, skateboarders from all over the area have returned to grind, hippie jump, railstand, and have fun with hopes of not looking like a poser.

Protection

Why aren't they wearing any protection, helmets, gloves, elbow/knee pads? Shouldn't that be a requirement for a sanctioned skate park?
