AUGUSTA, Maine (AP) — A Democratic lawmaker is proposing that a process be created for Maine citizens to recall the governor, legislators and constitutional officers.
Rep. Cynthia Dill's proposal was set aside without action Thursday in the Maine House.
Dill, of Cape Elizabeth, says the proposal is in response to hundreds of citizen requests and it is not specifically aimed at Republican Gov. Paul LePage or any other elected official.
While the Maine Constitution has provisions for impeachment, Dill says it doesn't set out a process for citizens to initiate elected state officials' removal from office. Dill says 18 other states have a recall process.
Dill's order surfaces amid a furor over LePage's order to remove a mural depicting labor history from a state office.

It is sad to say but LE Page has really dug him self into a hole to the point, just who would vote for him like I did ,ever again.
I felt Paul Le Page was going to do something to help the working class of this great state this is why I voted for the guy , but I was fooled.
Now we all can see he don't have any thing on his plate for the working class of this state at all .
The only people that he is trying to inpress is the out of state money people that may or most likly may not, set up shop or factorys in Maine , so the work class can have a few low paying jobs like the people that work In Mardens .
All of us should have know better ,but who else could have we voted for ?
Anyone with the brains to run a big company don't want anything to do with running a hell bented up state like Maine ,where there is more trees than people .
The people we voted into power of our goverment turn on the people that voted them in and protect the trees more than the people, over the last forty years .
We the voters have no one to blame but our selfs for the mess the state is in today because we voted for this mess .
Lame Duck this is about All Le Page will do as Govenor.
He is all ready dug him self a hole with the voters he can never dig him self out of .
Trust me on this all of you .
Think about it have you ever heard of any one going in office and turning the state up side down like Le Page has .
No not me and I am 60 years old .
Le Page is out of control in his own skin and he don't even know it .
Where is all of the business people he was talking about during the election.
There is no one .
Governor Paul Le Page's plate is empty.

While the Republican legislators can set aside the motion to allow a recall I notice that according to today's news they told Lepage to "Zip his mouth". Could it be that they have become aware that legislative elections are not that far away and that the people have another option to set this right?

It's a shame that this legislation has been set aside but I would imagine that it's going to be a difficult one to get any lawmaker to look at or consider. It is something that is needed and far more important legislation than making the whoopie pie the state desert.

A lame duck is an elected official who is approaching the end of his or her tenure, and especially an official whose successor has already been elected.

I understand the sentiment for this. However just think of all the ramifications. Because referendums and recalls can be finance by moneyed interests, when the next democratic governor takes office, the Maine Heritage Policy Center will have a recall election every year. We all know the right wing wackos LOVE to abuse the system for their own benefit.

It was Reagan Bush I, and Bush II. That somebody else who 'used' to pay taxes is going to have pay them again if we ever want to get out of debt. But your side cries too much for that.
