The tracking poll released Wednesday by Critical Insights puts LePage's approval rating at 31 percent, close to 37 percent support he won at the polls in November. The approval rating numbers are similar to those posted by Democratic Gov. John Baldacci last fall before leaving office.

Pollster MaryEllen FitzGerald says about 15 percent of those polled had no opinion, meaning they're taking a wait-and-see approach to LePage's candidacy.

The poll was released a day after LePage signed an insurance reform bill in his biggest political victory to date. Critical Insights polled 600 Maine voters from May 5-9. The margin of error was 4 percentage points.

No surprise

This does not surprise me at all. He has made a number of blunders since he came into office and his performance is not what I would call top notch. And the bill was rushed through with not much thought for the ones who really need insurance. May be a victory for business not the people of Maine. Any one who surrports this has never had to struggle to make ends meet , obviously.

funny how a poll from over a

funny how a poll from over a week ago is published right after he signs the insurance overhaul bill. Let us not forget, this bill passed the house AND senate. That means while some people may not like LePage for whatever reason, their state representatives apparently liked the bill!
