Didn't need fixing

Same-day voter registration works in Maine. I am a ballot clerk in Woodstock and we have a system for checks and balances on registration or change-in-address forms on the day of voting. We have done this for years without a problem.

If anything, especially in rural Maine, all people — Democrats, Republicans and independents — need to be encouraged to vote. Making people come an additional time to the town office can be a burden, even more so when people are working and the town offices aren’t open late.

On Election Day, the polls are open for the convenience of a variety of working people’s hours.

I have seen an increase in registrations for certain issues that draw individual’s attention. That is great. The more people who vote, the more representative the government will be, reflecting a higher percentage of the people of Maine.

I support the people’s veto of the bill to ban same-day registration.

Doing the right thing isn't always easy

I feel strongly about providing I.D. for voter registration. I also feels strongly about allowing people who provide I.D. every possible chance to vote, even if that involves registering on the day of the vote. It may be difficult and a logistical nightmare but hey... lets figure it out. Not allowing legal citizens an oppurtunity to vote due to inconvenience just doesn't fly for me.

The more people who vote, the more critical the absence of a lifeguard at the gene pool will become, sez the parrot.

Thanks for admitting

That Lewiston is incapable of serving it's citizens.

No wonder you left your City Councilors ;position.

No one votes in East Boothbay;

which you are obviously not aware of. But I have voted in Lewiston, having been a city resident for a number of years.

Your lack of problem solving abilities and initiative is no excuse for abandoning 'Same Day Registration" Good thing you recognized that and left public service.

Unfounded personal attack???

You're the one who admits to not being able to serve the Publics' Needs, Robert. Not I.

Thank you Ms Chandler. Having heard similar stories from several town clerks I continue to wonder where the GOP got the idea that clerks were complaining about being over burdened by the process, and that there was some rampant fraud going on.
Mr Webster, Mr LePage and the rest, just liars, plain and simple. Their agenda does not match that of Maine citizens.

Exactly. Except there are some (Webster) who would rather not have certain segments of the population vote. If you know your time in power is going to be very short lived, you try to change the rules in your favor.

Right out of the democrats'

Right out of the democrats' book of tricks. "Vote early; vote often".
