MONTPELIER, Vt. (AP) — A day after it tries to explain its recent service-quality, financial and other troubles to regulators in three states, FairPoint Communications faces what may be an even tougher task.
The telephone company has a deadline of Thursday to tell Vermont regulators in writing why they should not revoke its license to operate in the state.
Stephen Wark, spokesman for the state Department of Public Service, says the threat to take away FairPoint's certificate of public good is not a bluff.
He says he expects it will prompt the company to explain how it will improve upon a poor performance during its first several months of doing business in Vermont.
