Wake up, America

Barely one in three American citizens approve of President Barack Obama at this point (and I'll bet that more than 50 percent of them are on the public dole).

I think he doesn't care and his destructiveness is intentional.

He is an America-hating, Constitution-trampling disaster.

Wake up America, while there is still time.

2012 can't come soon enough for me.

Larry Carrier, Sabattus

Wake up, America

. . Lot's of relevant comments ?
Kind of a dumb question , but , what is that career politician ( 27 yrs. so far ) Gov. Rick Perry ( R ) TX doing about the wildfires and agriculture - disaster - drought in TX right now ? we'd like to know . Social Security is not a ' Ponzi scheme ' Rick . Never has been ( his book - read it ) . Houston's Enron ® was a ' Ponzi scheme '
We truly - w i s h - and hope the Republicans can field a credible candidate for next year's election
Doesn't Mitt Romney strike you a bit like a Gore , John Kerry or a Mike Dukakis ? Rather wooden ? Yeah ? That's the ticket . The women are too shrill . Maybe our SECSTATE and former US Senator Billery will run . She's got a husband who knows how to balance the federal budget .../s, Steve Dosh

This is what he promised...

He promised fundamental change and started to institute it when he had his super majority. Problem is that he thought it would work but it didn't. He also thought that people would like it, they didn't. The thing is Larry is that his idea of American & success is different from yours. Sooo....People really didn't want fundfamental change they just didn't want George Bush. The Democrats got creamed in '10 & Obama was only able to sink half the ship. 2012 will most likely go to the Republicans but what will they do with it??? I'm not overly excited about either party but like the Pirate says" what have you gotten the past three years that you want four more of???

Perhaps blatant, outlandish,

Perhaps blatant, outlandish, libelous allegations would be preferred?

ANTHONY NAZAR's picture

What's wrong with America

This letter is a perfect example of what is so wrong in our country. There's way too much irrational hatred.

The other thing I've noticed is how brave people are when sitting behind the shield of their computer. Most of the mud that is slung wouldn't be in normal conversation, but here on the internet, intelligent people make unfounded borderline libelous allegations without fear of anything more than more borderline libelous allegations in return.

CLAIRE GAMACHE's picture

Meaningless

A poll like this had no validity because it mixes in the people who think he is too liberal and the ones who think he is too conservative. Also, we were in a financial crisis when he came into the presidency and while we are very slowly crawling out of it, there will always be those who want speedy miracles and those who will blame him no matter what he does or says. Putting all these guys in one pile does not clarify much as far as figuring out what the American people think.

PAUL ST JEAN's picture

Has he accomplished anything

Has he accomplished anything in terms of the economy, unemployment, and the housing market that you would be willing to put up with four more years of, Claire?

CLAIRE GAMACHE's picture

Four more years?

Sadly, like most people nowadays, I did not vote for Obama so much as voted against the other choice. I have not seen anything to convince me that the alternative would have been better. I expect I will be doing the same in the next election considering what the Republicans appear to be preparing to run against him. I cannot imagine myself voting for someone who has advocated seceding from the Union (Perry, Palin) nor for anyone who has racist or bigoted views towards other Americans(Bachman) as I believe in "We the People". I also cannot picture someone at the head of the government who does not believe government should exist at all (Paul). As for unemployment, housing and the economy, I tend to lay that at the feet of Congress. They pretty much caused the problem and they are the ones who can fix it.

PAUL ST JEAN's picture

All candidates are flawed,

All candidates are flawed, but none so flawed as the current occupant of the oval office. You are an informed and intelligent woman, Claire. It's mind boggling for me that you would consider re-electing oBAMa given his current mishandling of the position. Fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice, shame on me.

RONALD RIML's picture

None so flawed......??

Except for:

  • Michelle Bachmann
  • Herman Cain
  • Newt Gingrich
  • Ron Paul
  • Rick Perry
  • Mitt Romney
  • Rick (Don't 'Google' Me) Santorum
  • Mike Huckabee
  • Rudy Giuliani
  • Chris Christie

Then there's Jon Huntsman - who does have some semblance of sanity......

PAUL ST JEAN's picture

I must stand by my statement;

I must stand by my statement; ALL candidates are flawed.
Man, you really put together a nice list of people that are well qualified to beat the current occupant.

Gingrich-Giuliani (I'm relying on your spelling on that one.
Perry-Giuliani
Gingrich-Paul
Romney-Cain (guaranteed to get the black vote.)
Gingrich-Christie

Bachman? No more electable than Palin.

Gingrich--most qualified of the bunch, but probably 2nd or 3rd most unelectable.

Absolute pity.

RONALD RIML's picture

Your 'conditional' pirouette was noteworthy

"Well qualified to beat" does not equate to "Well qualified to be President"

Look at the completely dysfunction 'House' which was delivered to us; neither the Speaker nor House Leader can control it.

PAUL ST JEAN's picture

They certainly wouldn't be

They certainly wouldn't be any LESS qualified than the rock star we have in there now. Looks like we need to be replacing the Speaker and the House Leader.

RONALD RIML's picture

You've been burning parrot scat w/o an OBA again.....

Most of that group you claim are 'no less qualified' are cut of the same cloth which the Speaker and House Leader can't control.....

Like we really need that at 1600 Pennsylvania Ave!!!!

PAUL ST JEAN's picture

Understood. Hopefully, we can

Understood.
Hopefully, we can replace a clueless, incompetent scoundrel with a competent scoundrel capable of getting us out of this morass we're in. Politicians are like hamburgers and cheeseburgers; the smell is the same.

RONALD RIML's picture

Perhaps in your world......

I don't use mediocre cheese.......

PAUL ST JEAN's picture

Describe for our audience,if

Describe for our audience,if you would, what constitutes a non-mediocre cheese, given that most cheeses stink depending on the temperature of the room. Damn, I'll bet one could say that about most politicians.

RONALD RIML's picture

You're the one who brought up the allegory of being unable to

olfactorily discriminate between a hamburger and a cheeseburger.

That indicates your problem - not that of the study group.

Ya gotta do better than that, Paul. But for the record - some 'stink' is exquisite - as Chanel and Rimmel can attest to.

CLAIRE GAMACHE's picture

That's a choice?

That was pretty much my point. We choose between the party of no ideas and the party of bad ideas. I figure you may as well stay with the devil you know.

 's picture

Crawling is right.

But you have the direction wrong.

CLAIRE GAMACHE's picture

Direction?

I don't believe all the hype I hear on TV. I am going by the signs I see all around town that say "Help Wanted" and the many new shops that have opened locally and the people I know who have found jobs lately. I'm sure in a country as large as ours recovery will be uneven. It took Maine 30 years to recover from the Great Depression.

Joe Morin's picture

The scary part is...

...that things are better here than most places. Despite our differences Claire Maine people on average are pretty hearty folk who play it close to the vest. We don't always hit the highs that other places get but we also don't hit bottom like they do either.I travel the country for work and New England as whole faired better then the rest of the country. i.e. California, Nevada, Florida etc... I love the optimism but that long Maine winter is also approaching and when the sun leaves so do a lot of residents & jobs.

PAUL ST JEAN's picture

You mean it recovered?

You mean it recovered?

Mark Elliott's picture

Just because Maine's

Just because Maine's leadership is doing things right, doesn't mean Obama should get credit for it!

CLAIRE GAMACHE's picture

Doing things right

It's true! Maine did put up that sign and was smart enough not to turn down all that stimulus money.

ANTHONY NAZAR's picture

recovered from the Great Depression?

not really.

We're still getting over the Civil War.

RONALD RIML's picture

Here ya go.....

KRIS KUCERA's picture

So . . .

. . . you're saying Obama's the antichrist, or just implying it?

It's all Obama's fault. Everything. Anything. Sure.

These unhinged letters to the editor would be comical if they weren't so pathetic and sad. When did so many Americans become a bunch of whiners relegated to angrily blaming government ad nauseam? (The variability of market forces and global strife play no significant roles in our current crises?!?) Last I check, our quality of life is still at or near the top compared to the rest of the world. Screw the billions of people living on less than a dollar a day, right? Heck, screw everyone but American Republicans, right? (read: sarcasm.)

Now back to your all-you-can-buffet already in progress.

David Cote's picture

WOW!!!

Gee Larry, you said a mouthful. I'm glad you said it with your mouth and not mine. Let's just say I disagree with 95% of what you're saying. I'll agree with Obama's approval rating being low. We all expect that, however he doesn't have an enviable job right now, does he? I don't agree with some of Obama's programs or decisions, but to cast him as a constitution hating person is plain wrong. I'd love to see his programs work for the benefit of all he serves. And how does one justify accusing someone of hatred when the accuser does so by spewing hate themselves? Do we really want the man to fail? What does that say about us if we do?

Jim Cyr's picture

Wake up, America

GO, Larry GO,!!!!

RONALD RIML's picture

Yes, Larry, Go....

All the way to your Ku-Klux-Tea Party...

 's picture

There he goes again.

Riml gets cranky when the cleaners put too much starch in his white robe.

Here's the liberal "logic" that's always used in these situations:

Larry dislikes Obama's policies.
Anyone who criticizes Obama in any way is a racist.
Therefore: Larry is a racist.

It's easy to "prove" your conclusions when your premises are nonsense.

RONALD RIML's picture

You know them by their 'Works'..

When you go to the so-called Patriot's Corner Blogspot

I don't frequent the racist sites ...

RONALD RIML's picture

Frequent???

Merely research.

So how you doing finding ammunition???

PAUL ST JEAN's picture

Nice stuff, Veritas.

Nice stuff, Veritas. Certainly no worse than the stuff they used to print about Bush and Reagan. What goes around, comes around. Never fails. Pretty soon, they'll be able to start taking their shots at President Perry.

Haha...Selective amnesia may have kicked in. The parrot sez he'll bet 3 of his prettiest green feathers that an old Master of Research such as yourself could probably dig up a bunch. What's that you say?, why don't I dig it up myself? Good point; but as you know, I'm just a lazy Pirate.

 's picture

Research. Uh-huh.

How are you doing with your pornography investigations?

RONALD RIML's picture

Not as well as you....

Got some pointers????

No.

Got some setters?

RONALD RIML's picture

I've got

a Brittany ;)

AL PELLETIER's picture

I have to chime in !

I've got a beagle that's as dumb as a box of rocks. No wonder, she was born on Dubwa's watch!

And..

she was trained to hunt by Cheney???
