The letter mentions the "political circus". Everyone I know, all along the political spectrum, except for a couple die-hards here, believes that phrase is an incredibly generous summary of the situation in DC.
It then suggests that our illustrious president, who says he wants the circus to end, is really encouraging it to continue full-tilt boogie. I agree.
Where is the racism? Where is even the shadow of racism? If Breton knows, he's keeping it to himself.
The noted circus entrepreneur P. T. Barnum once said
Nobody ever lost a dollar by underestimating the taste of the American public. If he's right, and I suspect he is, Obama will retire very rich.

The problem is that the visceral reaction to Obama has been far more polarizing than other Democrats, like Clinton. It might be just a natural rhythm of our democracy that things get hostile, then subside. But that this upswing was timed with the election of a black president, who had to go so far as providing eyewitnesses to his birth to prove he was an American, makes it seem far less about his politics, and more about his skin color.

He a married father of 2 who obtained a college educations from Columbia and Harvard who has no criminal record and has lead a pretty decent life.
Just like as much as I dislike some of Boehner's politics, I give the guy mad props. Put himself through college, and he fights for what he believes in.

and there it is. "jive ass". Jive is an African American dialect of American English, which the president doesn't speak. However, it is spoken by predominantly blacks.

Yup, had nothing to do with a backlash from President Bush. Nothing at all. Really, the reason he won is because McCain chose Palin. Had he chosen a smart woman like Snowe, McCain might have won.
See, you think your being cute, but it's pretty obvious, that to some extent, race is part of the equation. I'm not saying that invalidates your argument, but when you combine a valid argument with comments like "jive ass", it invalidates everything.
But, also know that it's gonna be alright. Just like I told people when LePage was elected. The universe isn't going to blow up. With a divided congress, no legislation that isn't watered down to the point of being a motion approving of calendars with kittens on it will pass.

You disagree in a civil manner and that is admirable, but I stand by my statement, jive ass and all. Race is part of the equation only to the extent that the president's skin is black and the democrats are getting more mileage out of that than MOBIL got out of its last Economy Run in 1949. Why does Breton insist on seeing racism where none exists? It is perfectly possible to want Obama gone just because of his dangerous, reckless, hyper-expensive policies.
However, Mr. McClure, I have to disagree on one point. I prefer the election method of removing him. You see, if Obama resigns, Joe Biden becomes president and we would have the "Doddering-gaffer-bonehead in Chief."
Now, if we can persuade both of them to resign, John Boehner becomes president. Hmmmm.

Dan rears his ugly head, AGAIN & AGAIN & AGAIN. This post wasn't very powerful, I agree. This is an example of an analogy Dan. He is comparing Washington D.C. to the circus. Since the Pres. is the leader of our govt./D.C. he is comparing the presidential postion to that of Ringmaster. I feel that Mr. McClure insinuates that the president as leader of our government has contributed to current climate in Washington and if he truly wanted to change that climate in a positive manner he would resign to expedite the process.... Now after giving this article a multi-angled look I still don't see racism. I see you throwing around very strong accusations that aren't meant to be used lightly because it is not a light issue. When you do the "pin the tail on the donkey" routine you remind us that you have no credibility. You also minimize true acts of racism and water down the meaning of the word... Your like the teens that drop "F-Bombs" all the time and still expect it to carry emphasis.

Now that you mention it, there have been some changes in the tone of certain editorials, and, as you state, different from the past. It doesn't really matter to me one way or the other. I get most of my information from CNN and MSNBC, so that keeps me pretty well informed. You know how it is with pirates; we go for the best.
