Police charge women in traffic sign heist

FARMINGTON — Two women were charged early Sunday on High Street in connection with a missing sign.

Colleen P. Lyons, 21, and Jade Peterson, 22, both of Farmington were arrested on a charge of theft by unauthorized taking or transfer at about 12:50 Sunday morning on High Street.

Sgt. Michael Adcock and officer Courtney Krause were patrolling the local streets when they noticed the pair carrying the "No Parking This Side" sign and post, said Rachel Heseltine, Farmington Police secretary.

They told police they found the sign in the middle of the sidewalk near Lake Avenue and were taking it to Lyons' residence on High Street to use as a lawn ornament, Heseltine said.

Both were released from Franklin County Detention Center Sunday on $3,000 unsecured bail and are scheduled to appear in court on Dec. 1.

Outrageous Bail

I love how you can hit your wife and get a $500 bail or be caught with drugs and get a $200 bail, but you take a street sign that was already basically taken and your bail is $3000?!?!?!?!?! Seems like they either had a criminal background or they got royally screwed over with that high of a bail. I just don't understand the inconsistency of bails in this state. Pay close attention to articles and bail amounts and you'll see exactly what I am talking about. The bail amounts are about as consistent as Gov. Paul Lepig.

never said that?

Riiiiiiight.... Read my comment again. I said the bail amounts are about as consistent as Lepage. Never said he was the reason for the bails. Sounds like you misread my comment. thanks for the laugh though :)
