AUGUSTA, Maine (AP) — The Maine Labor Department says the state's unemployment rate fell by a tenth of a percentage point to 7.5 percent in September.
Labor officials said Friday the seasonally adjusted rate for September was down by 0.1 percent from the same month a year ago. Last month's national unemployment rate was 9.1 percent.
Cumberland County had the state's lowest unadjusted jobless rate, at 5.7 percent. The highest unemployment rate, 9.3 percent, was found in both Washington and Somerset counties.

Not so fast folks
The state is slinging a pile of you know what here. At least they are not telling the whole story, not in the least.
The unemployment numbers they tout comes from the "seasonally adjusted" numbers from the Bureau of Labor Statistcs. Those are not real numbers but estimates based on what the BLS thinks things should do from one month to the next based on historical data, So it's like a political poll with a potential margin of error, The unemployment number went from 7.6 to 7.5, they estimated that there are 700 fewer people on unemployment, and 900 more people working.
The NON adjusted numbers tell a completely different story. It shows the unemployment rate increased by .2% and that there are 400 more people on unemployment and 15 thousand fewer people working! Now there's some numbers LePage can be proud of.
