PHOTO: Christmas tree arrives in Lewiston

Russ Dillingham/Sun Journal

Lewiston city arborist Steve Murch climbs off a 45-foot blue spruce at Dufresne Plaza in Lewiston on Tuesday morning. The city's Christmas tree was cut from the backyard of Bill Rubino and transported from his outer Main Street home on a flatbed trailer. Murch was climbing down after releasing some of the branches that had to be tied down to fit under wires on the trip. The 25-foot span on the estimated 50-plus-year-old, 5,600-pound tree is one of the largest the city has had. The tree will be lighted at 6 p.m. during this year's Holiday Celebration on Wednesday, Nov. 30. After the lighting, a parade will leave from the plaza and head to Auburn's Festival Plaza for that city's celebration.
