LEWISTON — A local woman remained in the intensive care unit of a local hospital Sunday after being stabbed multiple times Saturday night. A 25-year-old man was arrested and charged with attempted murder.
Cleveland O'Neal Cruthirds, of Lewiston, was arrested at 2:35 a.m. Sunday and charged with attempted murder, criminal attempt and violating a condition of release. He remains in the Androscoggin County Jail on $20,000 bond.
Lewiston Police Sgt. Michael Whalen said the attack occurred at 8:45 p.m. Saturday in an apartment at 174 Blake St. The victim, whose name is not being released, was stabbed in the head and shoulder.
Whalen said Cruthirds and the victim knew each other. He said the attack appears to be an incident of domestic violence given that one of the conditions of Cruthirds' release on a prior arrest prohibited him from having contact with the woman.

Prior arrest!!!
Lets see here...he's been in trouble before and released for God knows why, then told to stay away from the victim as a condition of his release..when will this system ever learn that these type of people will continue to do what they do best...and that is dis-obey every rule there is. The rules only apply to the rest of the population because they have never been made to follow the laws..

I heard that he's from missippi and hasn't been here long. We need to stop taking in everybody's refugees and fix the problems here first. The refugees are bsginning to think they can run the place and all of us that have been here don't have a say in the matter.

There are many things about your city, Gary, that you DON'T want to know. Lewiston is not even remotely close to what we're being told it is as a city. They talk about relatively low crime rates; hell, there's a stabbing every other day.

You do have a relatively low crime rate.....
Just how many remarks do you think there would be on this article if the suspect's name was Biladeau or Suprenant?? (like back in my home town in Illinois)

Stats are stats. Lewiston has one of the lowest crime rates of all the "cities" in Maine. I don't know if you are referring to a stabbing in Lewiston everyday or in Maine period because you would probably be correct in if you said stabbing in Maine everyday.

What I find kind of silly Paul is that if this kind of stuff enhanced the liberal agenda of our civic leaders and our media, we'd know more about this guy than his own mother probably does. Lack of information goes on often around here it seems, but let the governor or a conservative politician say two sentences that can be spun to an advantage by the other side and it's headline news. Speaking of spin, a great example is last Saturday's editorial. Don't forget to vote tomorrow if you live in our fair city!
