R. Grover: Liberals lack leadership

I am thoroughly disgusted with the actions of Congress and the president during the past several years. Nothing gets done when neither side of debates will even consider yielding a point.

A good leader (manager), first of all, develops achievable goals, and then (the key to developing solutions) prioritizes those goals: 1. national security, 2. full employment (or as close to that as practical). 3. maintaining a minimal level of assistance to the truly needy (the sick, disabled, elderly, etc.).

I leave it to others to develop their own list of priorities.

Each goal must then be studied and defined as to what is realistically achievable.

Then, the true leader looks at the assets at his/her disposal to apply toward those goals. Assets are applied according to the priorities; those goals lower on the list receive less emphasis. Where there are shortfalls, the leaders must address them either by increasing assets (taxes?), improving management of the use of assets, or by reducing funding levels of the lower-level priorities.

Continuing to spend assets that are not available is the road to real disaster.

The biggest problems are two fold: liberals can never prioritize or reduce funding levels on anything except defense, despite budget shortfalls of trillions of dollars, growing larger every year.

At the same time, conservatives refuse to allow even minimal tax increases on the wealthiest Americans.

It is time voters “hire” true leaders brave enough to work toward long-term solutions.

Obama is a citizen of Kenya !

The courts are silently looking into Obama's illegibility to be president ! Occidental College has been forced to release Obama's records on application for a foreign student grant ! Those records showed that Obama was born in Kenya therefore making him eligible for a FOREIGN STUDENT grant ! You will not see this on main stream media , if you want the truth google it or check it out on snopes ! This man is a hardcore phony who has managed to attain the highest office on this planet because Nancy Pelosi never checked on his credentials !~ She was bought off ! This is very scary how in hell can this stuff happen ! THE MAN WAS ALSO BORN AN ISLAMIST ! Our worst enemies on the planet have one of their own in OUR WHITE HOUSE !!Wake up America this no longer a case of Democrat VS Republican our country is at risk of destruction from within ! Don't listen to me educate yourselves before it is too late !

Richard, Firstly, you are

Richard,
Firstly, you are wrong that our leaders don’t prioritize. Both Democrats and Republicans prioritize reelection over something that you and I would see to be a more reasonable set of priorities, such as what you proposed. That being said, we shouldn’t say they cannot prioritize, but rather say their priorities are wrong.

Secondly, you need to be more specific when you asset Congress should increase tax on the wealthiest Americans. What defines the wealthiest and how much should they be tax. You need to put this in quantitative terms. Perhaps you would change your assertion if you ran through the numbers. You would probably find out:
a. You could not extract enough revenue from the wealthiest to
make a difference in the budget short fall.
b. The wealthiest already pay a disproportionate amount in
Federal Taxes.

But then again, keeping the “tax the rich” mantra in subjective terms keeps you from the facts. Man up, put real numbers and faces to your assertion.

Liberals lack Leadership? And the jokes keep coming

1. Obama presented and continues to present a clear attainable set of goals and objectives for this country - Affordable health care, done and working, End our unfunded War in Iraq, done, eliminate Al Qeada, Bin Laden and 20 of his leadership are dead, Rescue the economy, the long collapse resulting from Republican policies ended within 1 year of his taking office. Republican stated goals - only one make Obama a one-term President at any cost to the American people.
2. How can you rationally negiotiate with an opposition which believes in magic not management. Republican economic theory (as well as their social theory) is built solely on magic - the magic hand of the market, miracles, American exceptionalism, etc. When was the last time a candidate for Senator had to answer a serious question as to whether they had been a witch
3. Fixing America requires one and only one action by the people of the US - defeat every and any republican in 2012.

"Done and working"?

Shades of George Bush's "Mission accomplished" statement in your assessment of the current health care situation, Jonathan. Although I believe affordable health care should be a priority for all Americans, I see Obama's plan as a complete and disaterously expensive joke. More than two thousand pages of dialouge most everyone that voted on did not understand. The plan was shoved down our throats in record time so the Dems could railroad the general public before the midterms eroded their power. This plan, like the dollars spent on two wars, will choke our economy. Yes, we do need a good health care plan...this plan is not it.

You failed to mention that

You failed to mention that Tiny Tim was able to get his badly needed operation through oBAMaCare.

Jonathan, All that you have

Jonathan,

All that you have to do is look at the national debt trend to see how Obama solves his problems. How can you say that this level of spending is not disastrous for this country, so tell me how affordable is that health care? I guess one does not think about that if they don’t pay for it?

AL PELLETIER's picture

Yup Jonathan

He sure has done a lot more with constructive programs then Dubya did with his misguided war programs. I can't wait to see what the fat happy elephant is going to come up with for an opponent in 2012. Don't get me wrong, GOP lovers, I've been on your side plenty of times but this time, can't you find someone beside the Nute, the Mitt and the over the hill Ron Paul? And San (something) and Perry two are confused idiots.
Please give me something to vote for and I will swing your way. Til then, I'm still a jack ass.

Donkeys! We are the Donkeys! It's the Republicans who put the ' mock ' in Democracy!
These are pretty sad these days if all they can put forward are some rabid hockey moms from AK and MN and other retreads from MA and TX . Jesse Ventura next , possibly ?
Rick Perry still amazes everyone . Here's an other no count dumb TX Governor who has just suffered the worst wildfires & drought in his state - ever - running for President . This Republican logic leads one to believe that if ME gets covered with a glacier your Governor will leave for DC , too . Who tends the home fires in TX these days ? In fact , i do not know . I couldn't even tell anyone who their Senators are or if they are Democrats or Republicans . About all i know about TX is Enron ® [ It puts Hon . Susan Collins in a whole new light , too . Why is she not in the race ? :]
Let's talk about the heights and depths of hypocracy , hubris , and irresponsibility again , Newt . Good show

Wow Steve, we're on the same page and I can understand your post, what a plus! To answer your question about Suzzy. She's dumber then hake (Maine fish) and looks like one. Not much hope there for the GOP.

I owned a commercial flooring business for many years. I never bought a new tool with credit. If I didn't have the available cash I'd wait to buy it until I did.
Going to war without the funds to pay for it is an example of exactly what your letter conveys. Dubya's poor management skills.

Perhaps we should apply that theory throughout all facets of Government and stop borrowing $0.40 on every dollar.
