R. Tremaine: An unfortunate term

Published on Friday, Jan 27, 2012 at 12:12 am | Last updated on Friday, Jan 27, 2012 at 12:12 am 5 Comments

Our beloved King Paul LePage made another appearance recently. I feel so good knowing that we have a man like him to command us.

As is the case with all kings, King Paul must be obeyed and all of his edicts must be followed to the letter, or terrible retribution will befall us.

He says that the state must cut spending and the only way to accomplish that is to stop trying to help the most needy among us and let them survive or starve or freeze. As Marie would say, “Let them eat cake.”

The state must also stop helping those who need medical assistance; after all, it’s their own fault if they got sick or hurt. They have only themselves to blame. The state shouldn’t get involved.

Since King Paul is the most intelligent person in the state and is the only one who knows how to fix all of the problems, he fully expects that the legislators will support what he commands. If they don’t, then he will just close all schools and use those funds to do whatever he wants.

Sorry, King Paul, that action may be illegal; but, hey, he’s the king. He can do whatever he wants, can’t he? Such as take away people’s voting rights. Didn’t that work out great for him?

One day, hopefully very soon, the people of this state are going to tell LePage to shut his mouth, ride out his unfortunate term and take a hike.

Robert Tremaine,

Livermore Falls

Got a solution?

Its alot easier to sit here and criticize the Gov. as we have all the govenors but I haven't seen anyone coming up with a plan of their own. Where have all the jobs gone? No one can support a family working at a fast food place. If a company wants to open a branch in other countries that is not a problem but when the whole manufacturing jobs go for cheap labor and no enviromental issues to deal with its a no brainer unless they would be told that if they do that the tariff onto bringing it back to the US will be substantial. Someone in Wash. is lining their pockets and there is no question about that. NO person that becomes President is gonna have the power to do anything as the power is in Congress and time to wake up to that fact. Whether its Obama or who it is they can't do ANYTHING if Congress won't do it. As soon as they get into office they are raising money for their re-elections and have to cause it costs billions to run and those that give are expecting something in return and getting it at our expense. This economy has been bad through several Presidents and if we ain't handing it out here we are sending it overseas and if you want a can of mandarin oranges it will come from China like most everything else you buy. Something wrong with that picture. My job went to Mexico and now I am expected to help support them among whoever else wants to come here and the reason they come is we take better care of them then we do our own.

Unfortunate

It is true that alot of cuts need to be made to get this state back to somewheres near where it should be but here like in Wash. it seems the only cuts to be made are on the backs of the poor people. That said there is alot of money being paid out for girls having one baby after another with no means of support and the fathers of these babies with no job, no education and a dim future. Paying money out to those that just use the system as a way of life prevents the help for people that through no fault of their own are going through tough times. Its hard for anyone to find a job when this country is allowing all the manufacturing jobs to go overseas for cheap labor and big profits for themselves. Maybe instead of starting at the bottom to find the problem with why everything costs so much they should start at the top. Room and board for a day at a hospital is as much as a trip around the world. They cut medical staff to the bare minimum and keep adding on to these hospitals. They will drowned you with paperwork to have the least thing done and more laypeople working there then medical it seems. Time to start at the bottom and follow the trail back to the top and will prolly lead you to the fatcats in Wash. whose lifestyle does not seem to change with the economy at all. This country is supporting far to many people no matter the reason. At home your paycheck must go around or you don't buy something. Its time to put up the gate and say "we are filled up"

Don't forget,

Mr. Tremaine - if he doesn't get away with maiming the sick and elderly, he'll take it out on the kids.
