PORTLAND, Maine — President Barack Obama has scheduled a trip to Maine in late March, the Maine Democratic Party confirmed Monday.
Obama will participate in two fundraisers in the Portland area on March 30, one of which likely will be open to the media, Maine Democratic Party Spokeswoman Lizzy Reinholt said.
“We don’t have specific details yet, but we should be getting them soon,” she said.
Reinholt said the president’s campaign staff also has been asked if he would appear in Maine’s 2nd congressional district between now and November, but there has been no confirmation of another visit.
Obama was last in Maine in July 2010 when he and his family spent several days vacationing on Mount Desert Island. The president also visited Bangor in February 2008 when he was vying for his party’s nomination.
First Lady Michelle Obama participated in a pair of private fundraisers in Maine last year.
