R. Bechard: Enough blame to go around

This is in response to the letter from Rolande Caron (Jan. 30), in which she blamed the George W. Bush administration for the mess the national economy is in.

Enough is enough. President Barack Obama has been president for three years and during that time spent $5.4 trillion, according to news media. The Bush administration spent $4.3 trillion during those eight years.

Caron should blame both sides for the big mess the economy is in. Seems to me that in 2009-10, the liberal Democrats owned the House and Senate and the economy got worse. There will be more to come.

If the nation has four more years of President Obama, it will turn to socialism.

Time for Americans to open their eyes.

foolishness is all yours jonathan

Its amazing to me how the Liberals in this country can blame everything that goes on in this country on Bush. Since Reggie does not have the internet I thought I would say a few words on his behalf. Now if the Part D was a liberal idea oh my! it would have been wonderful. Its for the people we need to help the people after all. As for the tax cuts it helped my family a great deal and I am no rich person.I agree on one of those wars but not both.
Also I will also point out President Obama spent more money than all the previous presidents combined. If you believe that stimulus spending will return billions in revenue you are living in another world indeed!
We have had how many of those so called stimulus packages passed by this Congress? It hasn't help the unemployed in this country at all and you know it.
I think you should get your facts straight!

Do you know

what socialism is?

The right - including supposedly intelligent people like Gingrich - throw the word around as though it were an epithet. It's not. It's an economic system which has merit. Actually, the US has long embraced certain aspects of socialism such as public funding for education and health care. Medicare is socialist as is Social Security. Right wingers, including Ronnie Reagan and Dubya would have destroyed both, but a majority of Americans said, "no."

I'm betting that you think socialism is political - most who listen to Faux Gnus as their only source of information do. Please make sure you now what words mean before you use them.

Foolishness

You don't move a $17 trillion economy on a dime. President Bush added almost $6 trillion to the national debt by promoting and signing the Bush tax cuts ($2 trillion in new debt), promoting and adopting Medicare Part-D (cost $800 billion per year none paid for), two wars (over $1 trillion lets not mention the lives and international turmoil). President Obama's new programs which are unpaid for - $787 billion in stimulous spending which will return billions in tax revenues). You can not blame Obama for programs passed under and promoting by the previous Preident. You also can blame the costs of the recession (unemployment insurance, food stamps, welfare, etc) which were caused by Bush projects like his failure to enforce regulations and his repeal of other regulations.
Get your facts straight.

Finally getting better.

Hey Reggie, Bush gave Obama two wars to deal with, a housing and banking collapse, 10% unemployment, a Wall Street crisis, an auto industry disaster, and last but not least a deep recession. No wonder it's taken Obama 3 years to start turning this mess around. It took Bush 8 years to make the mess.

OK, Mr. Bechard, you've had

OK, Mr. Bechard, you've had your say, but, of course you failed in one important step. During the bush administration, Democrats did not thwart any step bush wanted, they realized that election had consequences. HOWEVER, during President Obama's administration, republicans have done everything to make certain the Presidents agenda failed. Their only concerned was that the President lose re-election. I understand that's what you want, however, not giving the President the ability to place his programs into action, means you and yours do NOT care about American, just about yourself. Democrats did not obstruct bushes agenda, and that led to our current problems. Perhaps Democrats should have been more obstructionist, however they respected the people's choices, even it they didn't agree with them. That's something you and your clan cannot understand or do.

Dan, We call the minority

Dan,
We call the minority parity the opposing party for a reason. The system by nature is adversarial, so what do you expect?

democrats did not obstruct

democrats did not obstruct Bush's agenda because they agreed with it, so they supported it. If it all went down the toilet, the dems are as guilty as Bush is.
