BETHEL — A registered sex offender was indicted Friday on three counts of sexually abusing a minor.

Christopher Lee Sheldon, 27, of 23 Mason St., Apt. 18, Bethel, faces three felony counts of sexual abuse of a minor and a charge of violation of condition of release.
Sheldon was originally arrested Jan. 5 after Rumford police received a complaint from a 16-year-old girl, Rumford police Detective Sgt. James Bernard told the Sun Journal in January. The girl told police she had been involved in a sexual relationship with Sheldon starting when she was 15.
According to the Maine Sex Offender Registry, Sheldon was convicted on Nov. 14, 2005, of unlawful sexual contact in Androscoggin County Superior Court in Auburn. He is required to register as a sex offender for 10 years.
On Jan. 6, Sheldon's bail was set at $500 cash or a supervised release through Maine Pretrial Services. On Tuesday evening, he remained at the Androscoggin County Jail in Auburn. According to his bail conditions, Sheldon must not have contact with girls under 16 years old.

sorry but the girl is pregnant with his child and has a 6 month old baby already...sounds to me like she knew what she was doing as far as having sex with him since she already has one kid....she has admitted on facebook that she had sex with him willingly, and now she doesnt want to be with him she has him arrested...sounds dirty to me. not that i like sex offenders because i cant stand them but this girl knew what she was doing and i think she should be held responsible for her actions as well...she had a baby at 15 and she was obviously having sex....sad situation....

This girl was 15 years old! The guy knew how old she was, he is a pedophile. I don't care if she has a child or not. The facts are this guy is supposed to be an adult, he was having sex with a child that had NO right to say yes to sex, and HE KNEW IT!

im not saying that he shouldnt do time for this because yes he should and i think he will get what is coming to him when he gets to jail. But i also think there is so much more to this and the whole thing with the girl being pregnant and this child being born to all this is a hole sad situation but she also knew all about him and made the choice to be with him so it should also be addressed. thats what i am saying.
