I didn't know that the Koch brothers are residents of Maine.
He's just one of those people who swallows the rhetoric and bald-faced lies coming from the public mouthpieces of the Reactionary right, without bothering to even examine the most obvious parts of the lies. Thinking anything through is too much hard work for such people. Many of us will still come to wrong conclusions if we don't have the right sources to fact-check against, but at least those of us will have bothered to consider why they believe so.
(Radical is extreme left, Reactionary is extreme right, so I've been taught)
If he really did make threats to neighbors who he didn't like, it doesn't matter whether or not he actually "forced them to move away" for what he claims to have done to be classified as a "crime of terrorism."
You have that right. I didn't notice until the next day that I had typed that exactly the wrong way around from what I had intended to say.
Evolution doesn't give a rodent's rump about individuals. It never has. Such "social Darwinism" excuses are merely an attempt at justification for rule by the most brutal and selfish.
Another of the intended side-effects of NCLB was to destroy enough of the public school systems across our country in order to make it easier for them to force "School Vouchers" and let the taxpayer fund their Protestant Madrasas.
Yes, let us dump Common Core, and adopt the Texas School Board-written textbooks which substitute genuine knowledge for fantasy and superstition.
Let them leave our children and grandchildren fit for little else than serfdom, and our nation to becoming a fifth-rate has-been.
Don't count on me helping this disgusting petition effort.
The actual, true conservatives of the Republican party (the ones their Reactionary brethren like to label "RINO") should work on reclaiming their party as an actual Conservative organization. They've pretty much done to the Republicans what Buchanan did to the Reform Party just a few years back. Took it over and made it irrelevant and pointless.
Throw the Reactionaries out, let them form their own party, which I expect would need to have a name something like "American Protestant Theocracy Party" or along those lines. So many of their stated goals (like from "Third Wave Christianity" and "Seven Mountains Dominion" groups, etc.) indicate that they wish to turn America into a Police Theocracy, and often run on to extremes like their desire to forcibly convert, deport, enslave or kill-off those Americans who don't happen to agree with them on Every Point of their ideology already.
But of course they wouldn't use the name I placed above as an example, as they are already so adept at forming groups whose names are designed to deceive.
Sign me, a former Republican, former Democrat, present Independent.
is what we have in the governor's office, and I can't wait to see if one of my few dates left in the pool will win re: what date will the Feds lead LePage away in handcuffs for corruption and related charges. Wasn't so long ago that the idiot in Illinois with the hair got himself that treatment, and he's most certainly doing time for it.
This "Ideological Purity Over Reality" stance of the Reactionary (formerly conservative) Republican Party in this 21st century, replacing reasoned conversation and workable compromise (reactionaries seem to think 'compromise' means 'unconditional surrender' -- go figure) with "Talking Points," and expecting sheer repetition of these mostly false points to convince people who know better, is no way to govern. Not even a junior high school student-body government should be run that way. The 21st-century Republican Party has no honor remaining, and appears to no longer think that facts have any place in politics, the real world, or our schools.
It also doesn't help in the discussion right here when loyal republicans can only respond with Internet Trolling Tactics, trying to derail the conversation into irrelevancies with nasty name-calling and continuously and belligerently repeated demands. Of course, the guy doesn't even dare to use his own picture as his avatar at the SJ.
I will have no complaints if these reactionary types would all join in their "Christian Exodus" and move, lock, stock and barrel, to South Carolina. Or if they all have apoplectic fits which render themselves discorporate. Or if they choose on their own to join their ancestors. Unfortunately, none of these things would do the slightest to restore honor to the Republican Party.
And as for prince paul, the legislature was elected too, and you are going to have to face reality, and work with both houses in order to do anything for the State of Maine. I doubt that very many of the state's voters chose you in order to see you funnel their hard-earned tax dollars into the hands of your wealthy buddies and corporate backers.
Political Grandstanding at the taxpayer's expense. What else can a population expect when they foolishly put a Robber Baron personality in the Blaine Mansion?
When he was running for office, with every campaign commercial on the air I saw he convinced me that I would make a far better Governor than he could. I'm a person who is wholly unsuited by both temperament and experiences (not to mention lack of political ambitions) for the job.
But with every day he is actually IN the Governor's office, he has yet to disabuse me of the notion that I might still do a better job than he has.
How sad for the State of Maine.
