I'm betting what he meant was, that by running the state really well and improving life for all Mainers, that everyone would feel that Republicans are better at running the State O' Maine and increase Republicans' chances of getting elected. Therefor, in a way, putting all state employees to work to get Republicans re-elected and not actually telling state workers to work towards getting Republicans elected.

I'm just countering the people who say that they should be treated more harshly and "be sent back". Then it elevates to they should all go back because they aren't just like what we want them to be.
Understand that Somalis were raised differently, come from a different culture, and it will take a very long time for them to better understand and fit into, as well as change, the culture of L/A. Vive la différence! So tolerance is asked for, try to understand their differences and don't believe everything that you hear (and only half of what you read... as the saying goes). Try to put yourselves in their positions and understand, instead of just criticize or condemn.

Bernie Madoff? He committed of one of the biggest crimes in history, a white dude... There are plenty of people of all colors committing crimes, big and small. I really don't believe that the welfare system works quite like you think it does. You have no idea what the financial situation of anybody is, so your accusations are just empty words that mean nothing, unless you can back them up with actual proof, and hearsay is not proof. Many people are trying to judge foreigners according to your own experiences and upbringing, unfortunately, Somalians, and actually any person not growing up in this country, has had radically different upbringings than those of us who have been privileged to grow up and live in this country.
What I'm trying to say is that all of us have had the wonderful opportunity to grow up in this great country. Everyone else in this world has had very different experiences growing up in their societies. I would wager that many of the Somalians did not grow up with electricity or even plumbing in their homes, let alone many of the social mores and norms that we all grew up with. Literally everything in this country is new or unfamiliar to them, and it will take them many years to learn our laws and assimilate into our society.
Yes, they are different and do things differently and will do things differently for many years. Much like the Irish, Italian, French, etc. "invaders" to this land, it will probably take a full generation (20 to 30 years) or more of Somalians before they become comfortable in their new homes and for others to be fully comfortable with them here.

Chicky, Okay so where do you find "God's original plan"? Which chapter or verse is it? And in which religious document is it found? From which faith? And of course, where is the original document, in the original language that you seem to understand the original meaning of "God's original plan"?
The Bible is a conglomeration of documents that were translated a few hundred years ago, from languages that had been long unused. So if you really believe that the Bible in it's English translation could accurately and unequivocally portray the original meanings recorded a few millennia ago by people using a language that no one currently could comprehend... Any translation can never relay with complete accuracy of the original meaning.
So, you see, an argument based on Biblical Scriptures is a weak one at best, unless you can speak the language that those scriptures were originally written in...
