This is what I have been advocating all along. And let's build this one to last 100 years, please, all the while maintaining it properly with the 100 year goal in mind.
but the Governor is trying his best to prevent one big mistake. These 70,000 poor souls, adrift in life and without hope, will probably remain in the increasingly heavy chains of socialism for as long as other people's money doesn't dry up. They are doomed to life on the plantation, scrambling for scraps of bread thrown to them from Augusta. They are trapped in a system that encourages lack of personal accountability. Life is one continual do-over test, and they never improve their grade because they never bother to learn the answer in the first place.
Look around you. 1 out of every 3 people are on the state. They trudge, on foot, from one place to another, like zombies in a grade B movie. If they are lucky enough to ride, it's in an old car that is someone elses reject. Democrat politicians are quick to teach them that they are victims of one sort of bad lot in life after another. They give them an identity and strip them of any self esteem.
Soon it will be 1 out of 2. The older people in Maine will pass and their money will pass with them, mostly to their spawn living the good life amongst sandy beaches and palm fronds. The affluent, from the megalopolis south of here, will come up in the summer but will hug the coast, never seeing the abject poverty spreading over Maine like a glacier just off the beaten path. Those that want to work will strip their beds and clean their toilets, eaking out not even an existence as they pay higher and higher taxes that the welfare monster demands.
Then it will be 3 of 4. It will all Paul Lepage's fault. He bullied them.
1. I can deduct it from our gross income. I cannot deduct sales or meals taxes. For me, the net cost of property taxes is 60% of the amount paid. If you have trouble following what 10% and 15% are, good luck in figuring out what I mean here.
2. I have to write a check semi-annually to my taxing authority, I am very aware of what it is, as opposed to the sales and meals taxes, which are buried most often.
Sensible
