I think this comment to Mark was uncalled for. And as for your wife working for the Federal Government, that is not such a big deal, except for the benefits she receives. The Government is so screwed up. You see how the postal department works, for one example. I have read your comments in the past. You lean to the very liberal side of the isle. People with real disabilities should receive the help they need. Impostors need an attitude adjustment and a fine, if it is warranted.
I just read your reply to Jerry. I now and again, read the comments posted. I agree with you. I don't live in Maine but I guess there are the same problems all over the country. There are those that will try to beat the system. People who use other people's handicapped cards and others who want to see just how much they can get away with. Doctor's sign their signature very freely so people can get S.S disability and handicapped access. The guy then enjoys his days on the golf course. I've seen it happen. I don't know what the answer is, except rules and regulations have to be enforced. People have to become more honest and responsible. That will be the most difficult part. It will be hard to change their mindset. Our country is treading on the edge of a cliff. Our leaders are turning a blind eye to those things that have made our country great. Thanks for sharing your thoughts.
What next? I am 73 years old and I managed to survive tag, dodge ball, kick the can and many other of life's experiences. What about football, basketball, baseball, soccer and other sports activities? Will they eventually ban them too? Some folks in this country have been taking stupid pills. They would better make use of their time, if they were more observant of a child who came to school with signs of being abused at home or being bullied at school. This country is getting to the point where it is not recognizable. This is only my opinion. From previous remarks, I guess I am not the only one who feels like this.
I think it is so important that children learn to read. I also think it is wonderful for those interested, to be able to give their time to read to children. My husband and I have done it here in Florida. The children get so involved and excited to have you come. Another thing that should be brought to the attention of the readers is this, Mrs LePage had to show her ID in order to be admitted into the school.I think it is a good idea. There are many places where an ID card is a must. Opening a bank account, cashing a check, boarding a plane and renewing your drivers license. Why should they not be a must when going to the voting booth?
I tend to agree with Tina Hutchinson. The system is way out of whack. The hospitals are ripping people off. On the other hand, I guess we are helping cover the cost of those that can't pay. I feel that the cost increase and service decline that
Doreen Sheive speaks of will be par for the course if the Obama health care passes. There are many folks that need medicaid but there are also those who take advantage.
It is wonderful to read something uplifting, with all the garbage that is going on these days. It sounds like an interesting program. To hear the real story was nice also. The Sound of Music is one show I shall not forget.
Eric, At least here we have the privilege.Young boys there, can drive with no license. Women can not drive, period. I can agree, some women are not good drivers but you can't lump them all together. So I guess you were just trying to be cute with that comment. Right??
I applaud her for what she is doing. Women should not be considered second class citizens. I am very aware of what you can and can not do, as a woman in Saudi. I could never live there under those conditions. We here in the USA have so many privileges. For how much longer, I don't know. Time will tell.
I think after two years she is fed up. I know what it is like to not have a closure to a murder. My brother Danny Wood was murdered in July of 1954. Nobody was ever caught. I think there was some cover up. I have my own thoughts on what happened. I heard back a few years ago that COLD CASE would be called in to take a look at the case, that never happened.
I am not sure if she is doing the right thing. On the other hand, I am sure she feels like things have been moving way to slow. Probably the Police and Detectives feel eventually someone will make a slip up and they will be able to move closer.
There has to be a change made in the Justice system. There should be no excuse for cases to drag on and on.
I hope that the person responsible for this will be caught and punished. If someone murders another person, the death penalty is the answer. If they are holding this little one, that deserves punishment also.
I think your so right on many of the issues. I have medicare and had to get a supplemental insurance also. There is no easy solution to this problem. I feel as you do, that there are many who are able to work, who are getting benefits illegally. There are others who deserve to get benefits. In the last 5 years things have gotten worse. You like me, know where much of the problem stems from. Our country as a whole, has many problems. Many of these comments are petty. We might ask, WHO DID YOU FOLKS VOTE FOR last election?
