I was with 'em until they all but packed up and moved out a couple years ago. Haven't been back to a game since. Of course, that's not the young men's fault. But it is management's fault.
Realistically, Auburn is no longer a farming community. The ludicrously high taxes in Auburn have made it impossible for anyone except long-time landowners to farm, and even they may expect to be re-evaluated out of business in the not too distant future. No one who doesn't already own farmland in Auburn can afford to buy it, pay taxes on it, and begin farming. Just look at sales listings on newenglandmoves.com (which also gives tax info) if you don't think so.
To me there is little point to allowing a slaughterhouse to come into what is essentially a residential city rather than agricultural town.
These kids knew perfectly well what they were doing. They deliberately threw dangerous items onto the highway hoping to cause problems. As such, they deserve jail time and forced reparations.
Begs the question...how do all the folks on Poland Range road drive where other people live? Do they all respect the limits? Maine drivers speed like irresponsible fools all over the state. Not just on your road.
Don't compare Juan Williams with a kid who publicly disseminates a penchant for destroying a school building, not to mention what he says about the school admins. Parents and the public would be up in arms if the kid did commit a heinous act and the school had failed to take action in time. Juan was stupid to keep making comments his employer didn't like after he'd already been warned not to.
Trains are far superior to buses. Nobody willingly takes a bus anywhere --- they're slow, make too many stops, and you can be stuck in waaay too close quarters with some pretty dodgy types. Trains are faster, safer, and keep more reliable schedules in bad weather.
Not every train has to be Amtrak-expensive. Just look at the history of public transit in this country. Guess who foisted stinking buses on the public? That's right, the automotive (bus-building) industry.
David Farmer needs to spend half a day looking up other states' tax schedules. It's comforting to keep your head stuck in the sand but Maine is not attractive for business. First, who wants to move their company here when the managers and employees will be taxed to death, and have few choices of areas with good schools? It's also known as the most aged state, with young people leaving the state to get education and better paying jobs elsewhere. Maine's income taxes are WAY higher than all the other states in the northeast and central eastern states. In fact, they're among the highest in the nation. That's a fact. Look it up. BTW Mr. Farmer, while MA raised their sales tax, they don't tax food and most clothing, plus their property taxes are lower overall. My RE and excise taxes are sky-high compared to business associates in MA.

Cretins will steal anything
Cretins will steal anything not nailed down.

Don't rue back on what you
Don't rue back on what you promised. That's unethical.
Instead, cut back on the INSANELY high salaries of city administration!

Not exactly a new concept.
