Good point, and that's where a comprehensive study would help. I would like to know how many people have moved to Maine in the past 20 years, and how many of them are receiving some kind of assistance as opposed to those receiving aid who were born here.
Let's face it, people like Romney and others on his social and financial level grew up seeing OTHER PEOPLE doing the dirty work of life, including military service.
Blame Ayn Rand and her ruthless philosophy? Who says women are the gentle sex? If women are becoming harder, what is happening to the men? From here on in, it looks like survival of the fittest and smartest, and the devil takes the hindmost.
I would like to, but lack a comprehensive study as a reference. But I have a strong hunch. There are approx. 1,100,000 people living in Maine. How many are Somalis? I truly don't know. Would there be 50,000? I have no idea. Out of 1,100,000 Mainers, how many would be receiving some kind of assistance? Wish I knew. Given that there are many more "natives" than newcomers out of that 1,100,000, my guess would be that there are more native Mainers on assistance than those in the other group.
Granted, but notice, he was RE-ELECTED. What % of the vote do you think big boy LePage will get the second time around with his fabulous record?
Cold, hard facts or speculation? You want to believe that certain groups are the REAL problem.
Yes. Give me examples of where and when they fall short. Where are they wrong on their facts?
Hey, go easy on the veterans. I was drafted during Vietnam. Didn't know anybody who could get me out of that mess. (The elite have showed us how to do that.) Hated every minute of it. It was often demeaning, useless, and unpredictable. And often far from family. Veterans deserve a decent retirement. What really bothers me is the way the wounded or disabled in some way are treated or not treated. That is scandalous and a tragedy. These people deserve much more, and it ain't happening.
Still, I'd love to see a comprehensive study of poverty, welfare and the various groups receiving assistance in the state, and where that assistance comes from.
