Had he sold her a joint he would be doing 20 years or more. What screwed up priorities we have in our so called justice system. 9 months is a total joke! The judge that agreed to this should be sent to prison for theft of tax payer monies paid while he or she ignores their duties to we the tax payers.

I am really not a fan of dogs

I am really not a fan of dogs in general but seriously large dog meets pot bellied pig equals dead pig unless dog's owner is standing there holding it back on a leash. That is not an indication of a bad dog it is nature taking it's course. Dogs are all carnivores by nature and pigs especially a small pot bellied pig is dinner time to any large dog.

8 months? Seriously? This is what is wrong with our system. Had this been some poor working stiff lying to get medical care for her kids they would be doing 5 years but some well to do doctor/psychologist etc defrauds insurance companies or medicaid and they get a slap on the wrist. How about 5 years, permanent loss of license country wide and reimbursement of all fraudulently obtained funds.
Its the health care professionals committing the most fraud, running up costs for everyone it is time to get serious about some hard core punishments the first time they are caught and make sure they can never do it again by banning them from practicing any form of medical/dental/mental health care any where in the country ever again!

Here are a few ideas.

1. Stop allowing kids to drop out. Make high school graduation mandatory with more training in various trades available.
2. Take away an equal number of days of summer break for every day of unexcused absences. Those days can be spent in summer school if available or doing community service hours.
3. Fine the parents a set amount for each day of unexcused absences and if they claim the kid was sick that often require confirmation from their doctor as some kids do have chronic conditions that can cause frequent short term absences.
4. If the child continues to be truant remove them from the dysfunctional home! Giving birth does not make you a parent. Putting in the work and sacrifices to care for your child makes you a parent.
5. Bring back reform schools for the little darlings who refuse to behave.

For once I actually agree

For once I actually agree with Doug Taylor. My parents were poor. Daddy worked hard but didn't make much but he had his pride. My daddy was quick to remind us kids that just because you are poor doesn't mean you have to be trash.

When will we remember humans

When will we remember humans are animals? We put down animals that are a danger to society. It is well past time we remember humans are animals as well. If they are that crazy there is no place in society for them. Half of them know they can get away with murder quiet literally.
Just look at the guy that set the fire here in Lewiston. He bragged about being able to get away with anything because he's too crazy to be held responsible but not too crazy to understand he can use that to get away with anything he wants!
End the insanity and either lock up the criminally insane for life in a maximum security setting or do as we do to any other animal that is a danger.

Oh yes that sentence is a

Oh yes that sentence is a real deterrent to the next thief. If he had a small amount of marijuana a little too close to a school even though the kids had no idea he had it he would be rotting in prison for years to come but hey rip off the tax payers and it's a minor thing hardly deserving any punishment at all unless of course it was someone who was actually poor that lied to get a little more then they would have thrown the book at him. How screwed up our so called justice system is.

Everyone who is opposed to

Everyone who is opposed to this insanity stand up and let your congressman know in no uncertain terms you will be voting against anyone politician who votes in favor of this nonsense regardless of your or their party affiliation! Bombard them with calls and emails!

I think the truth lies

I think the truth lies somewhere in the middle as there are plenty of both types receiving assistance. The real issue is not having separate rules for food stamps and medicaid one set that applies to the able bodied with strict limits and another set that applies to the elderly and truly disabled that are less restrictive and more generous.
The able bodied should be required to obtain job training education, complete a set amount of volunteer hours each week, and strictly adhere to the use of birth control while receiving any form of subsidy. Their children should not only be required to attend school but also to stay out of trouble while there and actually do the work including homework if they don't then there is a penalty taken from the subsidy check. If they have another child while on assistance they should be permanently banned from receiving any form of assistance and if they can't fully support the kids the kids taken and placed for adoption. Enough of this children are a right thing, they are a RESPONSIBILITY!
The elderly and disabled should fall more under the rules of social security for all forms of assistance and the assistance should be a little more generous. If they have children in the home the children should fall under the same rules regarding school as any other child who's family receive assistance. With the same limitation of having more children though I would say for a disabled person that has been disabled from childhood an allowance of having 2 children while on assistance should be made.
What really ticks the tax payers off is seeing the women with a horde of kids all on welfare and they just keep having more and more kids and a good number of them don't even take care of the kids they have! What holds most of us back from getting behind the so called reforms is they are not reforms just cuts to amounts and they keep the elderly and truly disabled lumped in with the able bodied.
