I have to say that I jumped the gun. After hearing about the opening on the radio and TV, (no, not Faux News), and a few online checks of major media sites, I assumed that they had checked their sources.
Now, I do agree with their Constitutional right to build a place of worship were they choose. But, I also have the right to think that it is very bad taste for them to do so.

The First Amendment, gives Muslims the right to build a mosque without government interference. My issue, is their opening it 9/11/2011, the 10th anniversary of the murder of over 3000 innocent people. The cowards who flew the planes into the WTC were fanatical fundamental Muslims, and many equate all Muslims as such.
While Imam Feisal Abdul Rauf maybe trying to build a center of faith peace and understanding, the choice of 9/11 as the opneing date will surely be seen by many as an insult to those who lost their lives that day.
