Wrong Headline - 5 Yrs not 15!

Come on, headline editor, read the story. The animal got a paltry 5 year sentence, not 15. The pig will be lurking the streets before the victim graduates high school.

Destined to ... TRY

Interesting concept. I'll definitely check out this place. I wish you great success. Welcome to the area.

Well Done

Not surprised to hear Seth cited his H.S. English teacher, Mr. Perry, as an influence. Nicest man you'll ever meet. Mr. Perry made an impact on so many of us. Thanks.

How much?! C'mon Sun Journal

Come on Sun Journal, fix your typo after three or four days and give your newspaper a little credibility! "The cowards caused more than $10,0000 damage" Is that:
Ten thousand?
One hundred thousand?
One thousand?
Or some other amount?

It's about Accountability

These public-paid servants should be held accountable for their poor judgement -- shamed even.  Unless they're proud of their actions.  Do you not understand the difference?

Many newspapers publish the names of such bleeding heart judges.  Why doesn't the Sun Journal?   A newspaper that only a few years ago -- and under public pressure -- began publishing the true jail-time sentences as opposed to ridiculous "John Doe Gets Five Year Sentence" headlines (only to find out in a competing newspaper that the perp only served 30 days.  Sentence: 5 years, with all but 30 days probation).

Publish the judges' names -- or follow up and ask them to explain their lame decisions -- or explain your newspaper's reluctance to do so.

Please Sun Journal and LaFlame, when you write an article like this, tell us THE NAME of the bleeding heart judge who authorized this animal's probation and THE NAME of the bleeding heart judge who gave him just 9 months for sexually assaulting a 13-year-old.  Your of lack journalistic stones makes you complicit in this kind of laughable sentencing.

Does the Sun Journal have a policy that bars the public from knowing the identity of the judges who are doling out such outrageous sentences and letting scumbags out on the streets?  Where is the accountability?  And why isn't the media doing its job?!

Best of Luck, Luke and Mike

This is welcome news for the area. And craft beer in cans is a great idea.  I've had soome and the taste is great and it's a MUCH more convenient package.  And Mike's one hell of a brewer.  Good things are bound happen in old Bates.  Best of luck, guys.

Doesn't Britian = England?

"What's more, both Britain and France were less affected by the recession of 2008-09, and each has emerged from the downturn more quickly than the U.S. or England."

Um ... isn't Britian and England the same place?  What point was the editorial board trying to make with this line?

Why No Photo of the Winners?

While all the performers were great, it’s too bad the wife of the school’s principal (who's also a MBMS teacher, BTW) didn’t take or submit to the media a photo of the 1st place performers, who brought down the house with a LIVE performance, instead of the 3rd-place lip-sync group — comprised of the school’s so-called “popular kids / jocks” (one of whom is the principal’s and teacher's daughter).

That night, the “band kids / science geeks” were the hands-down the crowd favorite and easily won the competition but once again, the popular crowd / jocks get top billing thanks to the teacher who had them pose for photos in the hallway after the show (ignoring the kids who won and were probably hoping to get a little recognition for once).

And as for the band, "Christian Rockeus," who performed a Christian rock song, they were absolutely fantastic and deserved a top 3  place.  They were truly outstanding!

Overall, a great night of talent at Mount Blue Middle School.  Just disapppinting to not see credit where credit was due in the media coverage (again submitted to the media by school officials).

Poor Irv

Wait, doesn't Irv Faunce have some kind of financial stake in Mr. Swett's original "something for nothing" Section 8 housing plan?  Isn't this really why he wants other potential uses for the former school building to just ... go away?  I agree, I'd take a realtor's word on this issue sooner than I'd put any substance behind poor Irv Faunce's conflict-of-interest grandstanding.
