The inmates deserve their day

The inmates deserve their day in court to lay out whatever evidence (witness statements, medical records, expert opinions...) they have in support of their claim and obviously thier own criminal histories (felonies, crimes of dishonesty) are relevant in assessing their credibility. While I do not believe that either the DOC or AG's office are incapable or unwilling to find fault with jail personnel, maybe they have not initiated thier own investigations because the inmates never filed a complaint with either entity, instead deciding to bring the matter directly to civil court.

Regardless of the original

Regardless of the original intention of the Act, it makes little sense not to at least explore the idea of means testing, at least for those recipients who have more than $500,000 in savings or assets. No one at or above that level needs a monthly check from the government even if they did pay into the system. Unfortunately, nobody has the will to propose such a plan given the monolithic voting power of the AARP and related lobbies.

Voisine, Now that you have

Voisine, Now that you have unmercifully 'cricified' me by calling me the 'eqvivalent of a money' (?), I will just leave you to seeking political news from a music rag that lost all credibiltiy about 20 years ago when they decided reviwing albums somehow made them qualified to discusss politics. What magazine do you consult for economic insight, 'Highlights' or 'Hustler'?

Voisine, The vast majority of the heat Obama has taken for his stance in Afghanistan has come from the surrender monkeys of his own party who feel betrayed because he did not immediately withdraw as they naively assumed he would do just because they poured money into his campaign . My point is not that the choice of Petraeus was unwise, but rather that his sudden rehabilitation of character in liberal circles now that he will be presumably 'cooking the books' for a Democratic Whitehouse just goes to show how little those who organized the original smear campaign against him actually knew or cared about his capabilities.

How ironic is it that the person now deemed most capable of leading the mission in Afghanistan is the same person who was publicly crucified by the left wing's cash cow MoveOn.org as essentially a liar by 'cooking the books' to overstate successes in Iraq?

I'll never forget the time I

I'll never forget the time I saw some defendant show up for his arraignment at superior court in jean shorts, a tank top, and sandals and Judge Delahanty informed him his court room was not a beach. He asked the guy where he lived (Minot?) and gave him 30 minutes to go home and return in proper attire and warned him that if he got caught for speeding he was going to double the fine. For a democrat, he had no qualms about imposing new sentencing records when the case called for it. Best of luck to a true straight shooter and an excellent judge.

And, if a private club openly

And, if a private club openly invites the general public to avail itself of the club's property, it is considered a place of public accomodation and covered by the MHRA and ADA.

They can not ban service

They can not ban service animals unless they are shown to be "unsafe or overly disruptive" and the term includes "...any animal that has been determined necessary to mitigate the effects of a physical or mental disability by a physician, psychologist, physician’s assistant, nurse practitioner or licensed social worker or has been individually trained to assist the person with a disability. An animal is protected if it meets this definition, regardless of whether it is called a “service animal” or any other term, such as assistive animal, therapy animal, guide dog, or emotional support animal." Of course the Club is free to argue that the unique nature of its property justifies exclusion but the exceptions are usually very narrowly construed.

If Dems are generally inmmune

If Dems are generally inmmune from the influence of lobbyist, why would they feel the need to repay organized Labor for campaign contributions by repeatedly introducing such anti-democratic proposals as the ridiculously named "Employee Free Choice Act?" Neither party is entitled to claim the higher ground given that both routinely kowtow to whoever filled the coffer in the last election.
