Vincent Marcisso

...was my landlord a few years back. I recall waking up without heat, had single pain windows, in Norway Maine, and on in particular the glass was apart fro the pain. Several other issues and Mr Marcisso never responded to any of my phone calls or letters, yet had no problem cashing my check. Avesta had 'inspected' and passed this apartment so the were of no use. I stayed the year of my lease, and no surprise didn't get my deposit back either. moved out of state so didn't have ability to pursuit, I would recommend no one rent from this man. He has several buildings downtown Norway....

When someone is in a

When someone is in a situation that demands the find a place to live, with in a time frame, and Trust the people that are there to make sure all is right, and are then so let down by a system in place to protect them...I took what I could get back in 2008, I needed a place to live, I believed Avesta when I was told the apartment passed inspection..Moving in I noticed single pain windows with gaps, it created not only a very cold place to live b4 the 'landlord' decided to get oil, it also created old through out. Contacting the 'landlord' did no good, and afraid if I contacted Avesta that they would either side with him, or tell me to move, (I couldn't afford to move again at that time)I dealt and fixed things that I could or my friends could. Stayed the length of the lease, and never heard from the 'landlord' again..no deposit or anything. I am so happy to be out of that county. Have never seen anything run so shabbily!

11 days with 'intermittent

11 days with 'intermittent heat' in December in Maine is inexcusable! You can bet if it was Mr Marcisso's home and family the issue would have been fixed correctly the 1st time!

Previous Tenant

I was a previous tenant for Mr Marcisso. Although I do not remember the exact address, it is the building on the corner of Pearl and Cottage street. This apartment also passed Avesta Housing standards. I had mold in my apartment, single pain windows, and many cold nights without heat. A few calls and letters with no response from Mr Marcisso led me to believe nothing would be done. Fearful I would have to move if I contacted Avesta, I kept quiet. I had a year lease which I completed, 2008-2009, and thankfully was able to transfer out of that county and away from that mess. I definitely left that apartment in better condition than I received it, gave Mr Marcisso a forwarding address, and was not surprised when I did not receive my deposit back. I did not pursue as I moved out of state and did not have the funding to attempt such a feat. I know Mr Marcisso counts on that. Taking advantage of the population that has the least ability to defend itself. Nice guy...
Where I live now is beautiful, anything I need done in my unit is addressed with in a day courteously and quickly. It is disgusting what 'Avesta" approves habitable, and unfortunately the many of the clients they serve are at their mercy for many reasons. Ill let you ponder on that...

you are correct plus

the Food Bank gave food to their volunteers as long as they could....The USDA, or some other organization, (can't remember now)basically told the Food Bank if that practice continued they would no longer donate to them. It was unfortunate as many of the volunteers were people that needed assistance yet felt better about themselves working for it. The Food Bank attempted to continue running with the volunteers but they dwindled down. Many traveled to volunteer and the round trip once or twice a week wasn't worth the gas as now they had to also purchase more food. Catch 22 all the way around. (Volunteers from other towns were also told they could only receive food from 'that' food pantry in Auburn once a month which most people could do in their own towns)

I remember those times

I was there, who ever you are, u prob know me, and I am not ashamed to admit who I am,,If you want to know. Doug has been to hell and back, and although I may not, ok I do not agree with everything he says and/or does, his heart is in the right place. My son would prob still not be a reader today if it wasn't for Harry Potter, and we have a mother/son date to see the last of the films together, this does not make Doug or me in the right/wrong or w/e. It's a matter of opinion and we are all welcome to have one....Isn't great to be an American?

...just wanted to add that

...just wanted to add that not only will growing their own medicine save them money, as a previous gardener, (grew flowers, vegetables, herbs, you name it I 'tried to grow it),I know first hand how relaxing and enjoyable it is to plant, water, feed and watch plants grow. Comparable I would say to meditation for it's benefits...
Good luck to all...
