There seems to be comments left by a certain person on just about every issue pertaining to Rumford in this column consistently calling our selectmen the 3 stooges and not making the right decisions for this town... I'm quite offended by your remarks in one of your posts..and I quote "Moe-Larry and Curly are proud of their achievement of selling this town out to the self-centered selfish people"... I for one voted the way I did after taking a ride up Frye stretch and seeing all those wind towers... Clean energy or not I don't want to see those things in the back drop everyday when traveling around Rumford... You make it sound like the people (the Voters) of Rumford are ignorant and are incapable of making the right decisions for this town.... The more I read your posts the more I see that if the selectmen don't do what or how you want things done they're the stooges... I guess there's a reason why your no longer a selectmen...Cause the so called ignorant voters of Rumford have spoken...
No Newpage isnt a Canadian company, chapter 11 is done so the company has time to restructure thier debt, and thier creditors cant force the company to liquidate thier assests to pay them back. Some of the largest companies in the world have filed chapter 11 including Delta arlines, GM,..It might be a good thing...Whats really gonna suck is that the town of Rumford might not be paid thier tax money from the mill, of which the mill pays more than 46 percent of the amount the town collects from all taxes... The town of Rumford has been living large for many years and has relyed on that money way to much...Our selectman have been taking for granted that the mill was going to be around for ever.. Maybe now they will wake up and smell the roses..and not throw money at everything and anybody that asks for it...Just take a ride around town, how many police cruisers do we need, check out the new explorers that are driven around by the fire chief and the DARE officer, or the jake brake equipt ladder truck...

If there are so few students to take advantage of this program like you say then where is the over crowding going to happen. Also to correct your statement about AP classes.. yes they offer AP classes but They STILL offer College coarses too and NOT at the CC like you say.. We have a tech center (at least in my district)I think in my OPINION...Your assesment of students wanting to move on with thier classmates is so Brady Bunch like. In my OPINION I dont think that there is going to be that many students, given the choice would move onto college like thier classmates Sounds like to me and after reading some of your other posts you just like to bash Lepage.. Terry, maybe you should've had the option to go 5 years of high school cause apparently you need it... The key word in the story was OPTIONAL.. He wasnt forcing kids to go to High School longer, If kids want to leave after 4 years they can.... My district already offers kids college type coarses. Speaking as a tax payer I would love it if my kids had the opportunity to get one step ahead and have college credits when they got out of high school, Id would much rather see my tax dollars going to kids getting a head start on life than it being spent on fighting law suits about a dam mural...But some kids would give thier right arm to be able to leave school with college credits and or an associates degree, have you looked at the up swing in the price of college tuition, I have cause I have 3 kids in college and next fall I will have 4. I am by no means a fan of Lepage but I think this is one of his better ideas...
Maybe now some one will enforce the no vehicles on the track rule.. just a few weeks ago there were about 100 motorcyles on it along with several vehicles.. There are always vehicles on the track, think maybe that contributes to the degrading of the track?....
Tim is a good man.. So dont judge him by this..He gets like this when hes had to much to drink..BUT he needs to get help with his alcohol problem.. maybe this time he finally will..
When I got laid off I went to get assistance amd didnt qualify....after working for 30 years I didnt qualify... On the other hand if you look at the application. it clearly states that if your an alien from another country you didnt have to fill out the rest of the application....I sat in line with...12 samolian women....all 12 were getting food stamps, heap section 8 housing AND maine care. and here I was born, lived and worked and paid taxes in this country my whole life and I dont qualify for anything.. go figure....
