Seems like every time a teen or child these days gets caught or arrested for doing something, the first thing a lawyer does is find a way to give them a get out of jail free card. That adolescent is incompetent to stand trial, insane, mental problems or whatever problems to keep them from being punished for what they have done.GOD for bid any one under 21 these days that gets held accountable for their actions.Give him a slap on the wrist and let him go free.Same old same old. story.
If you got to take a dog with you out on hot days DONT.Leave them with a friend or someone at home. The stupidity of some people who take dogs out on hot days and leave them in vehicles have no common sense. My dog loves me and i love my dog and want him to go every place i go is nothing but brainless thinking. If anyone truly loved their dog they wouldn't leave the animal in an oven baking hot vehicle while they went shopping or whatever in some air conditioned store. If when someone does this and gets caught they should have the punishment of being put in a vehicle the same way as they had their dog for an hour.To stay there with the windows cracked a little in the same way as their dog.See how they like it or get a $100 fine first offense and higher fine for 2nd and more offenses.I love animals and it ticks me off to hear of some of the dumb ignorant things people do concerning animals.
What Gov.Paul LePage is trying to do makes me wonder if he will be re-elected for the next term of office?
You have got to be one of the coolest dudes around.Love your columns when ever i read them.Always got something interesting to say.
It seems like this countrys attitude about our countrys returning service men and women from duty serving their country isn't any better than it ever was.A President whoever is in office sends our sons and daughters off to war in a foreign land to fight imposible odds sometimes to keep and preserve our countrys freedoms. Are we grateful and thankful as a nation for what they have done and been thru.I wonder?I served in the military for only four years, never went over seas to fight in a war.So i have no knowledge of what those returning service men and women have gone thru while on active duty during a war.It just seems like this countrys government should take more responsibility in caring for our returning service people from overseas battles.Making sure they get the help and care physically and mentally for what ever is wrong with them.
Justin Crowley-Smilek went into the service on his own as a volunteer not drafted like i was back in 1967.Being a volunteer in todays military seems very honorable to me.I have alot of respect for those that volunteer. It says something about the person as to what they are like. You can see the opposite of what i don't like hanging out on many streets day and night in most citys across this country.Young men and ladys 18 thru 25 with nothing to do with there time.Yet here's this young man who goes into the military serves his country and comes home with problems he never faced or had to deal with before. How does it all end,he gets shot and killed in a small maine town.Did he have a suicidal urge to end it all this way?I don't know, does anyone?Whatever reason or reasons he had for doing what he did no one will ever know.I don't know the officer who did the shooting or know how he feels about what happened. It just seems like more could have been done to help Justin Crowley-Smilek with his problems rather than have a situation turn out this way.
What is a police taser gun for or due they not use them anymore? Why such a deadly result when perhaps a taser gun could have been used to take the man down to arrest him?Maybe the farmington police department do not have taser guns to use?Again, why not? When it could have avoided killing someone if there was another way to use deadly force to disarm the man?Of course the officer will be justified in killing this man but it seems to me a taser gun could have been used on him first, than kill him as a last resort.
Gee it's too bad someone can't be charged for stupidity.Alot of dumb people in this world.
Just because an entry level First Responder or fireman gets very little pay, does that give them the right to do what ever they want to and make up their own rules for how they do there job?
I was just making a comment as to why two or three fire trucks were needed at a medical emergency when an ambulance and a police officer are there? No i have no training.Just a citizen wondering about the fire department responding to a medical emergency if an ambulance is at the scene as well.I was always led to believe ambulance personel were fully trained and qualified to do their job in any emergency. If that is true than what more can fireman do for a patient than what is already being done by the ambulance personel.Sorry if my comments upset Kaileigh Tara. The only time i would complain/sue anyone if they were negligent in respoding and giving treatment. If fireman are trained to perform other things that ambulance personel do not know how to do,than i could understand them being there as well. The article in the paper led me to believe that the fire department was doing something they should not have been doing regardless of how under paid they are. Also having three fire trucks respond to a medical emergency before they are needed seems unecessary to me.
Wow,the things you learn about when you read the newspaper.Nice to know someone is paying attention to what our city employees are doing when on the job working. The statement Chief Low made after the fact ""I really think all of this comes down to a large misunderstanding on the part of some councilors and a lack of communication," Acting Chief Low said."That sounds a little like a spur of the moment response or pass the blame on like after a kid gets caught with his hand in the cookie jar.Ok Chief Low,than why take a fire truck to find this out,why not take the less expensive fire department car to do this?
Myself i wonder about when a 911 call comes in about a heart attack or other medical emergency situation. Why is there sent to the scene 2 or 3 fire trucks a police officer and ambulance? Can't the police officer and ambulance personel take care of the situation? Can't the officer access the situation and determine if the fire department is needed or not before they are sent?Seems like a waste of taxpayers money to have the fire department show up than 5 minutes later return back to the station because they are not needed.Maybe a good policy doing so but it seems rather dumb and wasteful of money to me.
