income redistribution yet ??

Isn't every insurance income redistribution? we pool our money and redistribute to people who need it for care. We all pay in and if and when we may need million dollars for cancer treatment the money is redistributed to us . All income taxes are redistributed for services the people want like roads, plowing , police etc. In America we are all in it together -- we help each other - as the preamble to the constitution says "promote the general welfare" and " Form a more perfect union"
Like Social Security and Medicare before it the republicans are again fighting to end a program, ACA, that will help the middle class and the poor while handing money back to the rich, in the always failing theory of trickle down economics.
Since Reagan first cut taxes to the wealthy- today the gap between the wealthy and the rest of us has grown out of control -- the money has been redistributed to the wealthy and they have done little to help raise wages --which have grown little over the same time . The engine for the economy is the middle classes ability to purchase goods but with no growth in wages -- even going backwards- it is very hard to grow the economy. The billions given to the wealthy so called "job creators" have gotten us nothing -- while they hoard their billions the middle class gets smaller.

where in the consitution?

"The U.S. system of government was set up so that in the event the Senate and House of Representatives were hopelessly deadlocked (as is the case now), the president is required to step in, negotiate with both sides and, between the three, come up with a solution" Just where in the constitution do you find the part about the Executive branch fixing messes in the Legis. Branch??. The Legis branch are charged with making the laws -- so they need to do their job ! The President is NOT required to step in by anything in the constitution.
The special interest group causing all the problem is "The Tea Party" or 80 of the 435 Representatives who represent only a very small percentage of the US Population -- is holding the government hostage to extort their demands. This is where the "blame belong".

being honest would be good

Let's be honest — no one dies because they don’t have health insurance. Not receiving health care can lead to a greater chance of illness, disease and premature death, but everyone makes their own decision on what health care they need." Please do your research people do die because of lack of health care-see posting of Ron R. for one source.
Who will pay for the CHARITY care of people who can not afford health insurance but do get ill??? The money will be paid by someone--this is the question that Republican will not answer- who pays for the 70,000 Mainers? Currently some of the cost are passed on to the insurance companies who pass it onto us who pay for insurance.
Charity Care is NOT FREE care!!

What about the States other debt?

Great ,the hospitals (corporations) were paid the millions they were owed since 2009. How about the millions owed to the people of Maine in the Maine State retirement system for over 20 years !!! Oh yes, Maine defaulted on that debt - refused to pay and took money from all the retirees ,oh, yes, we were just the people of Maine not a corporation--so not paying the bill - freezing COLAs and blaming the people in the system who paid every cent they owed is WONDEFUL to the Governor and many Republicans . Where is the story about Maine defaulting on the debt owed to the retirees ??

NOT afraid

I am not afraid of the Federal Government or the media.
The congress and president are often brought to task by the media – the problem it which media are you believing? Just because something is repeated 1000’s time does not make it true.
All of the so called “phony scandals were investigated and reports by all sides made but the “right” could not prove their made up stories about them—their “truth” was not found to be the truth.
The US Constitution was not violate—and if you believe it was what parts were violated – site the section, clause, amendment your believe was violated.
OOPS-- You are NOT guilty if you plead the fifth –that is what the constitution says—so do we follow the constitution or not??
The Affordable Care Act has already helped millions of people and in several state uninsured people are going to be able to get insurance. You cannot be dropped by your insurance company for pre-existing conditions, closing the “donut hole” in the drug program for those on Medicare, making policies for the uninsured, and lowering cost in several states-- the insurance companies are so afraid of this law because they can’t get away with so much greed !! and all those 6 AND 7 figure wages.
The implementation delay was not illegal just done because companies needed more time to get ready something the Republican had said was needed and then screamed when it was done.
The media is giving evidence –but it may not be what you want to hear.
Really- the old tired--- the presidents playing golf and on vacation – ALL presidents go on vacations some even during wars – even republican presidents, and we are still standing – the world’s oldest constitutional democracy.
No the “sky is not falling” the constitution is still working and although the government is having a tough time- this too will pass – just like it has at other point in our 200+ year history.

You are correct

The common core is yet another in a long line of documents to try to make ALL students the SAME !! Learn the same things at the same time or fail . Not one of these kinds of plans have shown to improve student learning by very much if any.
One size fits all has never and will never work for America students.

Standardized test not always used

Many colleges and universities across the USA have stopped using the SAT's and ACT's and other standardized tests because of their many documented/researched problems --they use the students grades, activities , essay, interviews ,recommendations to select students. I know of no place that only uses or even weighs such test as most important . You could call admission people at colleges and universities for a more complete answer. And some even admit all that apply !! Check out the admission rates at UM and community college system .

"I have a Dream"

2013 and the 50th anniversary of Dr. Martin L. King's "I have a Dream Speech" and we still have the hate filled, racist David Marsters' with us.
Now just what could " Shoot the n***** with the President picture mean??
the intent is about as plain as the nose on your face, 100% disrespectful.

All students are not stressed

You seem to believe that all 7th and 8th graders or High School students take these required tests seriously and get "stressed" sorry not true. Some do get stressed and some could care less about a test that does not impact their grade and there is a group in the middle that care some . So 1/3 trying their very best ,1/3 half trying but not their very best and 1/3 who could care less about the test-- and somehow these scores show the truth the whole truth and nothing but the truth about what these students know and can do and can not do. REALLY?
