This is a big deal. There is a budget for a reason. Plus, why did it take so long for the problem to be identified?
Obviously, money is not the solution. LePage wants to throw more money at the problem to the detriment of the needs of local governments to pay for their needed services (including the police who fight this problem daily).
The point is that Medicaid is absolute necessity for our poor (including our elderly who have worked hard all of their lives raising their families and participating in our communities). And, quite frankly, the insurance program that the Republicans put forth has been very detrimental to the people living in our rural communities -- costs have increased and services have declined.
I think LePage should move to Florida. He keeps using Florida programs as ideas for Maine. He loves Florida. I don't see that he has any fondness for Maine and its people.
LePage cannot backtrack on his logger statement. It was quite clear that loggers are fine so long as they stay in the woods. The other statements in this article are garbage. He just wants to hear himself talk.
The State of Maine Attorney General, Treasurer and Secretary of State should absolutely be elected by the citizens of the state. After all, they work for us not for the Legislature. I would go one step further and require the State Auditor to be elected also.
Every time a bridge collapses, we talk about what bad condition our bridges are in. But, we don't spend the money to fix them. So, we wait until there is another problem and say the things and do nothing.
Evidently, LePage was never serious about paying the hospitals. If he were really serious, he would sign this bill.
I am tired of Collins spending so much time criticizing the President when she should be spending time getting good legislation passed. Yes, she occasionally breaks with her party and cast a responsible vote. However, she has done absolutely nothing to bring the politicians together. Does that mean that she has no influence with her fellow Republicans or, does it mean, she doesn't even try to convince them to vote responsibly? I would like it if she spent less time in front of the camera criticizing and more time trying to pass responsible legislation.
I know, for me, that I don't believe a word that LePage says. He has lied over and over again. So, I consider this a nothing story because it is based on what LePage said.
