Years ago, I worked for Forster Manufacturing. It was one of the best places to work, and I enjoyed it immensly. I can still smell the hardwood, in my minds eye. Wood turnings was a good business to be in. They paid well for the times and it gave folks who were not going on to college, (not everyone could), a place to work and learn a trade. I learned so much there during my tenure, about the trades, about people and safety, and about manufacturing in general, and had good people to learn from. I built jigs and fixtures and made tools and cutters, and even a couple of small machines, and clip saws. I applaud you for reviving a very honerable manufacturing base, and I wish you every success. Congratulations !
I'm for green power. But these things are useless. When you ride by them and see them turning and looking fascinating, don't be fooled. They may be quiet while they're turning at around 10 or 12 revolutions per minute. And guess what.........they're not producing any power at all until they reach 16 or more revs per minute. Then they begin to hum, and whoosh. Then when the wind really blows, they can reach up to 90 dbs. You may want to wear earplugs at that noise level. Place several on a mountain range near a village, and that could be sickening. Don't believe the lies they will tell you about how quiet they are and how productive they are. Or that they will create jobs.....they won't, not for us. All they want are the dollars from the gov. grants, and the power will be sold out of state more than likely, and we will probably foot the bill for the transmission. At a time when green power is at a premium, we're taking hydro out of the loop, and why? There are ways to engineer them so that the fish don't even know they're there. Go Hydro!
You just don't get it. It's about losing rights. I have nothing against cops. It's the laws that allow their behavior. It's the laws that are causing us to lose our rights. And complacency in the communites, and among the voters, who accept them. Sorry you didn't get that.
I didn't see in the article why they were called in the first place, or by who they were called. Was it really a rifle he had, or a big stick. Those cops are dressed up in so much gear, they probably shot him because they were too hot, and going into heat exhaustion, not seeing or thinking clearly. They were so geared up that if he did shoot at them, the bullets would have bounced off! Eight times they shot him! This is an outrage! All you people who think the cops should be into every aspect of our lives, and think it's good, don't you realize your losing your rights everyday? Do you know that people are being stopped because the cops say that their air freshener hanging from the rearview is too big? Talk about your bull s--t probable cause to stop you and check you out for no other reason than to invade your privacy. And no I'm not of a guilty consience or of breaking any laws, I have nothing to hide, I just don't like the way the people are losing rights to privacy, and private property every day, and that a lot of the people accept it as a good thing. I'm sorry, I can't. And I'm sorry for this vet who was gunned down by a bunch of trigger happy cops, and later they'll all be cleared of any wrongdoing, watch and see.
Just another way for the cops to invade peoples privacy. Pretty soon they'll be doing backyard patrols too. What statistics in the Town of Wilton determined the need for this ridiculous patrol boat? You know they're only looking to make trouble, out of what's been innocently going on on the water for years........nothing but good clean fun. You'd better be on the lookout all you camp owners on the lake, for these idiots with their binoculars checking out your backyards. Just a bunch of overglorified peeping toms.
Clearly it states........."At his sentencing, Berte admitted smoking about two ounces of marijuana weekly during the eight years he worked as a Boston firefighter". Two ounces a day, he'd probably be dead!
I am saddened to hear about another tragic, needless loss. Was this girl on a cell phone? If she was did she have a free hand to turn on her blinker? Maybe if he had seen it on, he could have prepared for an evasive manuver. While driving in my truck, I have on numerous occasions seen young girls on cell phones, not use their blinkers because their hand is holding a phone. And I'm not targeting girls, but I have never seen a guy do it yet. You know how you wait at an intersection for another driver to indicate their intentions, and they never do, and then you see the phone in the hand........I'm sure many of you folks have seen it. I'm not even sure that this was the case, but geese, why would she not see him if he was that close? I feel bad for her, and I hope for her sake it was an honest mistake, and she really didn't see him. It might make the fact that she has to live with it a little easier. And I'm especially sorry for all the families loss, I will say a prayer for all concerned.
Man, those chickens are going to have a heck of a life now aren't they. Deek ought to set them free and start raising free range eggs down there in Turner. Tear down the barns! Just put up miles of fence, and let 'em cluck and crap all over the place! The locals can't raise enough eggs to meet the demand without creating the same problems that Deek seems to have. Whats wrong with you animal rightists? We seem to cut our noses off to spite our faces, constantly raising costs on ourselves. We're destroying ourselves, and our rights, and our bank accounts on a daily basis! We need to get a grip, and get real!
The list of those released from the registry was obtained by the Sun Journal under Maine's open access and freedom of information laws, shows some of those removed from the registry committed multiple sex crimes, or crimes against multiple victims.
How do we access the link to this list? Is it public information?
So, now, these perpetrators, who could be firemen, social workers, clergymen, and nurses, have the right to be out and about, after having violated innocent people, and children, and we have no right to know who they are? Prior to the ruling, the registry list was growing quite rapidly, and now some serious crimminals are being removed from it? Visit the registry, some of these perpetrators have up to 14 counts against them! You might be surprised how many call your neighborhood home! There are 5 of them in our small community.
Biker 69 hit the nail on the head, when he said that the victims will never forget. They are sentenced to those memories for life, without the possibility of parole from them, and now the crimminals are off the list. And worse, they are out there scott free, unknown to the public to do their lurid, hurtful, hateful deeds upon the innocent. And how many more victims will be accosted until they are discovered to be offending again? Statistics show that more than likely, they will. Just one is too many! People need to know who their neighbors are! We hear on the news so often that a missing, hurt, or sexually abused child was accosted by a neighbor.
I still disagree with the probable cause theory. If the cop viewed drinking from the street, how could he know it was underaged without checking ID's? What? Was he sitting out there with binoculars viewing the considerable activity? How long? This would be a crime if the neighbor was doing it! Peeping Tom! What gives the cops the right? Were the teens making trouble, or were they just all gathered around talking, what? I guess what I disagree with, is the cops pushing their way into a situation, or onto private property, where there would normally be no trouble, and then making trouble. And then, being glorified for it. We are losing rights everyday, and private property ought to be just that...private.
Hooray Louise!
