He accepted responsiblity because he got CAUGHT. Would it have otherwise stopped? He had virtually no record because he had not yet been CAUGHT. Does that make him a better person than the one who got caught sooner? Does it make it worse that he betrayed someone's trust? That doesn't change what he did.

SJ, why have you not posted an update? If you're going to mention that it is being investigated whether drugs are involved or not, that is as good as implying that she died from a drug overdose. Is it not your responsibility to refute or support that? Her autopsy I believe was completed on May 25. And it is obviously not fair, whether she abused drugs or not, to accurately report her cause of death.

And yes C_Choate, I realize you must be related to her newest boyfriend, and I'm sure that you and your family are upset for your loss and I'm sorry for that. However, whether they are prescription medications or not, when your mother's name is on the pill bottle instead of your own it makes them illegal. You're right, it did not say she overdosed, however the fact is that a mother abused drugs and whether that caused her death or not her children were not her first priority. Did we forget that the poor baby she gave birth to is fatherless due to her irresponsibility in not knowing who the child belonged to and didn't want to try and guess because all choices were loser alcoholic drug addicts and therefore now has no parents at all and will probably grow up in foster homes away from her sister Selena? Did we forget that Selena was sleeping and she and one of her boyfriends got in a fight and she went into her sleeping daughter's room and the boyfriend followed her in there and assaulted her in front of her daughter? Did we forget that this was the same boyfriend who had previously been arrested for threatening her and punching holes in her wall all while Selena was present? This man whom she continuously chose to be with and put herself and her child in danger? The one who is one of Sonya's potential fathers? And also, C_Choate, no offense, but your relative, one of her other boyfriends, was being searched for by a K-9 in Wilton less than two years ago. Just because she has passed on does not excuse her behavior and the position those children are in now because of it.
Anyway..this should be a wake up call for everyone. Regardless of the reason for her death, the bigger impact is on her children. You may think that just because you are a young person that nothing will ever happen to you or your children. Especially when you are endangering your life and health by abusing drugs and alcohol. It is time to wake up and stop pretending you are invincible. And make sure your children will be safe and protected if anything should ever happen to you.

It clearly states in the article that the property was sold on Facebook and that the buyer was advised of the problems with the property from the beginning. It is just as much the buyer's responsibility as it is the seller's. This couple is fortunate to find a property that was owner-financed. I'm really not trying to be rude, however social security for most families is enough to live on. The state of Maine gives a woman with one child $400 per month to live on (who can even find an apartment for that cost, much less clothing and electricity and heat and transportation etc??) and yet this couple who each receives social security is upset that they don't qualify for state help? This situation honestly could be much worse. It is nice to have a place of your own, but if you can't afford to save some money over the course of two years to atleast put toward fixing the problem than you should look into other options. There are elderly housing complexes to live in which are all currently accepting applications and after these past two years they would have reached the top of the wait list by now. This is a sad situation but it could have been prevented. This article doesn't happen to mention that neither of these people have driver's licenses (maybe Sun Journal should let us know why) so they don't have a vehicle payment or gas to pay, and they most likely qualify for food stamps, so if the rent is only 1/3 of her check and he's now got a check, where is the other 2/3 of the money going?

A 12 year old is babysitting someone one year younger than her and a newborn baby?!!! I hope this is a very mature 12 year old, 3 month old babies are very demanding and need to be fed, changed, and burped regularly and that is a common age for colic. Hopefully by out of town the mother wasn't too far away for too long, but if this is the same person who owns dog that is biting everyone she certainly doesn't sound very responsible. I hate to be judgemental and I don't know what kind of situation caused the need for these children to be out of school without a responsible adult around but this mother probably needs to concern herself more with her children and pets than whatever she was doing out of town.
