Independent, hell!

Sawin Millet has been a career Washington and Augusta, Republican politician since at least 1968. He hasn't had an independent thought since he was born. Paul LePage has neither the experience, temperament, or knowledge to run anything beyond a junk cart. What are these independent values that Len Greaney shares with them.
He says he wants to move the state forward after "30 years of decline". Well its true the shoe companies have disappeared along with many of the jobs in the forest products industry, but Maine's per capita income has risen faster in those 30 years than the national average. The whys are obvious. The Party Mr. Greansey is now going to support came back in power 30 years ago with the philosophy it now holds - destroy the middle class. That's you and I if you didn't notice. George Bush 41 called it voodoo economics or soak the working people. Just last week, Republicans in Washington prevented the repeal of tax incentives corporations use to move jobs overseas. Mr. LePage who has proved himself a liar, cheat, and tax evader and many of us suspect a draft dodger would continue this Republican tradition.

Wind companies speak

First, Dr. Aniel may have called Rumford "cancer valley". What I remember is Dr. Martin called it cancer valley. I also remember a "preliminary" study was done that showed an epidemic of cancer in the Rumford Valley. Not to surprisingly the sample was declared too small so the study was expanded to include up-wind towns like Andover and miraculously cancer all but disappeared. That is not to suggest that Dr. Aniel is credible. He isn't. But he should be listened to and his ideas analyzed with a critical eye.
Second, to Commonsense a "special interest" is anyone he disagrees with. To me a special interest is one that will financially gain by lobbying for some governmental action. That fits First Wind not private citizens. Private citizens are protecting their property rights.
Third, when someone proposes a significant change like building a new industrial plant, they are responsible to prove that either no harm will be done or that the affected people are compensated for the harm done. We have heard nothing from First Wind and others. They haven't participated in meetings. They haven't offered any answers. They have not shown that their actions are safe. Only vague claims of wonderful tax cuts (bribes) cross their lips and even less specific "its only noise".
Until we have scientifically valid answers and proof that these industrial wind farms are perfectly safe, the only sane vote is NO on November 2nd.

ignorance

Too bad that some people are this ignorant. LePage as Major of Waterville had a ceremonial position. He's an expert in one thing only - Marden's. He expressed his ignorance on road repair by answering a reporters question about the backlog of road repairs by saying that the problems were solely caused by "bloated bureaucracy". The bloated bureaucracy disappeared years ago with the Republican recession.

Wishful thinking

People are undecided in this race? Mike Michaud Has done a great job in Augusta and Washington. Mr. Levesque is slavishly devoted to a false ideology that will land America as a third world country. Free us from the Angle, O'donnells, and Levesques, vote for sound responsible leadership - Mike Michaud.

Press release from the RNC. Forgot, that's a republican

organization headed by a black man so it must be ignored. Press release from the Republican Governors Association.
The tax hike is a republican tax hike. They put the language into the law sunsetting the Bush tax cuts. The Obama administration has proposed extending the cuts up to $250,000 a year in income. I don't know many retirees and seniors making more than $250,000/yr. Do you? Since the Republican voodoo economic theories hold that a zero tax rate is best, I can't be surprised by this press release. But for the rest of us who aren't wall street bankers we must ask why are the Republicans now opposed to extending their own policy.

LePage will represent self-made men only

LePage opposes abortion apparently without exception. We don't know if he opposes birth control as well, but that may be behind his platform plank that parents and only parents make medical decisions for their children.

Do you believe this?

"A self-made man whose word is his bond". Do you believe that. He's spent most of this campaign lying. 6 days 6 different explanations for why his wife falsely claimed permanent residency in Florida and not a mention of the roughly $64,000 he saved in tuition and costs at FSU (no explanation of why he moved all his assets to his wife).
"....his views on welfare, education, energy and the economy would be a positive change of direction for Maine." Mr. Matthews may agree with LePage's bizarre beliefs, but they certainly won't take Maine in a positive direction. Well, maybe a positively awful direction. He wants to end general purpose aid to education which will raise taxes in rural Maine by 300+% and cut taxes in cities like Waterville; drill for oil in the Gulf of Maine, build nuclear power plants, eliminate the Bureau of Environmental Protection, eliminate business regulation. Read his platform on the GOP website.

Cutler is taking votes from Mitchell

I've been calling folks for weeks on this election. If they are undecided, many say its between Libby and Cutler.
LePage is far tooooo extreme. Death Penalty, Off-shore oil drilling, Nuclear power, eliminate the Department of Education, go back to local control of education as defined in the Maine State Constitution (no state aide), go back to traditional family (no government "intervention" meaning child abuse will increase, no "In Loco Parentis"), the list just gets longer. His program helps the cities in Maine like Waterville and hurts rural Maine.
Cutler, I don't know how a lobbyist for the Chinese Communist Goverment can help Maine. Rich, Cape Elizabeth lawyer, who apparently wants a trophy for his mantle. A vote for Cutler is a vote for LePage according to the New York times.
Moody, no experience. Why does every businessman who has made a little money think they can buy an election. How does anyone really know his views. No record.
Mitchell. Experience. Great record. Long service to Maine. Fresh ideas. She identifies with the average working Mainer. She doesn't live in Cape Elizabeth. She doesn't exaggerate she record.

You have to understand the causes of a problem to solve it

Bush prevented enforcement of US regulations. The failure to enforce those regulations be they at the SEC that ignored the Madoff ponsi scheme or the failure to clean up the MMS scandal that let BP ignore the to follow minimal safety at its wells in the gulf were the direct cause of the gulf disaster and belong to the Bush Administration.
