So many people are misinformed on this law.... The weekend before AND following the Fourth of July, fireworks can be set off until 12:30am. So actually these people had another 2 hours of legal fireworks time left to go!
The following is a copy of the times and dates of fireworks legality:
"Fireworks maybe set off between 9 a.m. and 10 p.m., on property the user either owns or has permission to use. However, the law does allow for an extended window of use on July 4, from 9 a.m. until 12:30 a.m. That extended period also applies to the weekend before and after July 4; in this case on July 7 and 8, as well as Dec. 31 and New Year's Eve's preceding and following weekend."
I just wish people would stay informed and have facts before the dial happy neighbors throughout Maine call the police.
P.S. I live the next street over from where this was happening and yes, it was loud, but i dealt with it, as they were within the law.
They say a picture is worth a thousand words.....so where's the picture SJ? More and more newspapers are forgetting to include the most important part for a reader: THE PICTURE! Heck it would even save you some time writing I bet. We all would win. To be honest I tend to not even read a story unless there is a picture to help explain it all, especially in a vehicular accident.
You must pull your information out of thin air good sir. He WAS given help, you see if you had a clue (which you still don't) Justin wasn't taking his medication, which he was given to help with his "illness". He was off his meds as they say. So, yes, WE DID help him, he just refused the help and went on a wild spree that ended up with him being shot fatally with damn good reason. He was crazy, violent, unpredictable, and criminal. He was a good man to many I am sure, but like I said before, he BEAT A MAN INTO HOSPITALIZATION FOR NO REASON, BROUGHT A LOADED GUN TO A PLACE WITH CHILDREN AND STUDENTS (for no reason... and don't even try to defend this!! fact is that in all reality he did not need to bring a gun to a basketball game, doesn't take a genius like yourself to figure this one out) AND HE WENT, LIKE A MANIAC, AT A POLICE OFFICER WITH A KNIFE IN ORDER TO COMMIT SUICIDE BY COP!!!!!!!! AND YES HIS FIANCE AND FRIENDS AND FAMILY HAVE SAID THAT THEY ARE CERTAIN HE WENT TO THE POLICE STATION KNOWING WHAT HE WAS ABOUT TO DO AND THAT HE WANTED TO DIE THAT'S WHY HE LEFT HIS CELLPHONE AND WATCH AND OTHER BELONGINGS INCLUDING HIS DOG AT HOME BEFORE HE WENT TO CAUSE MAYHEM AND CAUSE AN OFFICER TO SHOOT HIM DEAD. So the fact that we should have been more open minded and memorialized him is just plain ignorant and stupid. It's like putting up a memorial for a criminal in your hometown. I'm sure Charlie Manson did some nice things in his days, but does that change the fact that he was a criminal?!?! You got your head screwed on backwards good ole Randall. And to go along with Roger Moulton, we are glad that you don't live here. We don't like to fill our great state with morons such as yourself. And yes Randall most people have to ask for help, that's common sense that if you don't want the help, no ones gonna force it on you, so maybe IF HE ACTUALLY WANTED THE HELP HE WOULD HAVE GOT IT.....Oh WAIT...DAMN, WE DID GIVE HIM HELP (meds and counseling), HE JUST WASN'T FOLLOWING IT! Let's see what intelligent nonsense you'll come back with now ;)
You clearly have no clue at all the background of this man's torment in the town of Farmington do you? Honor their son?!?!?!?!?! You mean the son that severely beat a man (for no reason other than his anger) to the point of hospitalization after a night at the bar? Or the son that brought a gun to a UMF basketball game and put everyone's life at risk there? Or do you mean the son that went after a Farmington police officer with a knife and caused him to have to make a life altering decision to shoot and kill a man while on duty to protect his life and the lives in the community? Yeah we should put a bench in our town park dedicated to him (said as sarcastically as possible). How do you feel about it now Randall? Still think we must have our minds closed?? Or are you still left with no clue......
So this guy caught some burglars in the act (maybe after his pot) and he is the one that gets the polices attention while the REAL criminals are still out breaking into peoples homes. I think I am not alone when I say I would much rather have the police looking for the REAL bad guys doing the break-ins and leave the guy that's growing a natural plant alone. What's worse?... a guy that grows pot and makes a few bucks to supplement his income rather than living off the state's welfare system, or the people most likely on welfare that broke-in? I really wish cops would just give up on the whole pot thing. Always has been and always will be a lost cause and a huge waste of taxpayers monies. Last time I checked I have never seen a news story in the past where pot made someone commit a crime other than the initial "crime" of having the pot. But it seems EVERYDAY i read about people doing break-ins, or robberies of pharmacies. I think it's time for a priority check that's been LONG overdue as to what merits police attention and what deserves a "sir we don't want to come back and see this again clean it up or else we will charge you the next time." Give me some feedback on this people. Thanks.
Riiiiiiight.... Read my comment again. I said the bail amounts are about as consistent as Lepage. Never said he was the reason for the bails. Sounds like you misread my comment. thanks for the laugh though :)
I love how you can hit your wife and get a $500 bail or be caught with drugs and get a $200 bail, but you take a street sign that was already basically taken and your bail is $3000?!?!?!?!?! Seems like they either had a criminal background or they got royally screwed over with that high of a bail. I just don't understand the inconsistency of bails in this state. Pay close attention to articles and bail amounts and you'll see exactly what I am talking about. The bail amounts are about as consistent as Gov. Paul Lepig.
I can't wait 'till we get a chance to vote for someone, ANYONE, to replace LeLoser.... All he has done is what HE wants. That whole mural thing just sickens me. I can't wait to see a picture of his sad droopy face with the word DEFEATED above or below it. I, as I'm sure a lot of you, will breathe a serious sigh of relief when he is out of office. What a sorry excuse for a "leader". More like the "school-yard bully" in my eyes.
Things like this are a HUGE waste of money. I'm not a tax payer of Rumford but I'll tell you what this makes me sick. There are people out there who have little food in their fridge in Rumford, and malnourished children, so why the heck wasn't that $600 taken and spent on something useful like food for the poor!? Oh, trust me, I get it, the town wants to create an "image" to make it seem like "the good kid". What a pathetic display. Good intentions, horrible planning, worse decision making, and an end result I bet the town wishes they could have another shot at. I would want to go back and axe the whole thing all together. Good luck with the backlash Rumford :)
