why did they have to change a good thing when it was working just fine. I use western Maine transportation for rides to medical appointments and it had worked just fine for me. People count on them to pick you up on time and get you there on time.. What is the point of change if it is not going to work out? Put it back the way it was. Thank you
I agree with you 100%. I am disabled and cant work so I too am worried what is to become of us who are elderly. We did our share as workers of the State of Maine and we did support others on welfare and mainecare etc. Now that we need it , it is all going to be gone. It is true Maine wages are the lowest in the USA. I don't know how today's people make a living on this wage , when prices are going up and keep going up, but our pay does not go higher. Thanks for listening but I am upset with Gov, Lapage and he wont get my vote ever again.
I am so irritated with all these cuts that are going to hurt maine low income people, disabled, and seniors. The disabled and seniors have worked and earned these benifits and deserve them. It's really going some when the government can't take care of their own but can send money over seas to help them out. I was always told charity begins at home... hmmmmm make you wonder. The government have good pay checks so they don't know what it is like to live in poverty. The Governor stated he grew up poor and should understand what his parents went through. Shame on him for enforcing such cuts. Come on repersenative Snow, we need your help to stop these cuts. It does not make much since to me that they would make these cuts just to have people go to the emg room and to the hospital when sick. How will the government pay for this if one is uninsured. Disappointed in our Government
I am a 62 disabled woman. I would rather be working and supporting myself as I have done all my life. Things happen and you end up without work and living in low income rents. I resent the fact we are all labeled as poor etc. We all had our share of working and supporting our families. For me it was hard to admit I needed help because my ssi checks would not civer everything. Subsidized housing was my only was my only way to go, or I would have been homeless. The government should freeze the rents to an affordable price and we would not have to seek out subsidized rentals. They froze rents way back in 72 or 73 and it was affordable then, now it is outrageous. Thank you for listening to me and I do agree with you all on this.
I am a female and I totally agree with you. Yes I had child support given to me for my 2 girls, years ago. even before this law went into effect. He also missed payments but things happen that you can't control. I agree with the fact if you loose your driving licenses most men and women can't work because of not having transportation and therefore no child support and yes it collects to unreasonable rates. No one can get caught up even if they worked 3 jobs. There has to be another way in this matter other then the current one.
I think it's a good idea besides it's not disrespecting anyone. This is America, our country. Everyone who has come here to live has respected and excepted the American way. I for one think it is a good idea to pay respects to our service men and women.
I am now 60 years old and I remember the gazebo at a very young age. My opinion is, why not get some of the welfare people capable of working to help fix up the gazebo. It and the monuments are in dire need of painting. What better way to get the work done and also it would help with the esteam of welfare recipients . Just taking the stairs away and blocking entrances won't keep anyone off the gazebo. If there is a will there is a way. Have you seen what little children and teenagers do in Kennedy park? I have, from climbing the trees to all kinds of distruction. Believe me The gazebo should be fixed up not barred from.
