FARMINGTON— Franklin County commissioners plan to discuss a proposed $5 million budget to operate county government in 2010-11 on Tuesday.
That figure is $107,355 less than the initial $5.11 million requested by department heads.
The commissioners’ proposal, which is not finalized, does not include money for a full-time finance director for the county as initially proposed, Deputy Clerk Charisse Keach said.
The county Budget Committee also needs to review department requests and make some decisions on what members plan to propose.
The commissioners’ meeting begins at 9 a.m. April 20 at the county courthouse.
The commission is also expected to hear about a proposed new mission for the county jail. In 2009, the state took over the jails in the state, though county taxpayers’ money supports them.
The Franklin County Detention Center changed from a full-time jail to a 72-hour holding facility on July 1, 2009.
