Community Concepts receives grant

AUBURN — Community Concepts Inc. has received a $90,500 grant from NeighborWorks America, which distributed more than $119 million in flexible grants to its national network of more than 230 local nonprofit NeighborWorks organizations.

The $90,500 grant will allow Community Concepts to help the residents of Androscoggin, Franklin and Oxford Counties with several critical services including: providing quality counseling for struggling homeowners at risk of foreclosure; stabilizing communities hard-hit by the current crisis by putting vacant properties back into productive use; empowering consumers through financial and homeownership education and counseling; creating homeownership opportunities for low- and moderate-income families; producing and managing affordable, high-quality rental properties; and strengthening Community Concepts Finance Corporation, a certified Community Development Financial Institution.

“The need for our services here in the tri-county area has never been greater,” said Dennis Lajoie, director of Community Concepts Finance Corporation. “Unemployment and foreclosures are at an all time high, and state assistance is declining. These grants provide critical funding that will help us to serve these communities during these difficult times. “

Community Concepts Finance Corporation is a wholly owned subsidiary of Community Concepts Inc. providing loans and other services for small or growing businesses.
