AUBURN —To celebrate Earth Day, a community recycling event will be held Saturday morning, April 17, in the parking lot of the Community Credit Union.
Items accepted for drop-off include televisions, tires, mixed paper, batteries, tin cans, old computers and monitors, printers, printer cartridges, digital cameras, newspapers, documents for shredding, magazines, cardboard, laptops, cell phones, microwaves, glass, eye glasses and No. 2 plastics.
The event is not open to businesses, only household items will be accepted. Organizers will have the right to refuse any items for recycling, said Jennifer Hogan, marketing and business development director for Community Credit Union.
Several organizations are donating their time and services to help residents do their part in recycling, Hogan said.
Sponsors include the city of Auburn, the Community Credit Union, E-Waste Recycling Solutions, Security Shredding and Stratham Tire.
The recycling drop-off will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the parking lot next to Community Credit Union, 40 Stanley St., Auburn, just off Center Street behind Stratham Tire.
A similar recycling event was held last year, and organizers said thousands of pounds of old electronics, paper and more were collected.
