Computer classes are just a click away

LEWISTON – Computer classes of all levels will start soon for adults at Lewiston Adult Education.

The hands-on courses are designed to enable student to understand the concepts and gain confidence while they are learning.

Spaces are still available in most courses and preregistration is required.

In addition to the usual courses such as “Absolute Beginners,” “Computer Literacy and Basic Applications,” “Internet: Basic” and “MS Front Page Web Design,” there are a number of new courses.

“Adobe Desktop Publishing: Intro” is a 15-week course for those looking to learn how to use the Adobe InDesign and Illustrator software programs to create ads, fliers, brochures and proposals for the workplace. The class is designed for those with little or no layout experience. Classes will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. beginning Thursday, Feb. 1.

“Basic PC Security” is a seven-week course for those interested in using tools to protect a PC from viruses, worms and hackers. The class will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. starting Wednesday, Jan. 31.

“MS Office Communications” is a hands-on approach to combing MS Word and MS Excel to create effective workplace correspondences. Topics include mail merges, tables, charts and formatting. The seven-week class, from 6 to 9 p.m., will begin Tuesday, Jan. 30.

There will also be one-day programs. On Saturday, March 24, seminar sessions will provide a concentrated overview of the fundamental functions of MS Excel and MS PowerPoint.
