LEWISTON — “Career Transitions,” an online database available from the Lewiston and Auburn Public Library web sites, will be the topic of a free one-hour workshop planned from 1 to 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 28, in the Lewiston Public Library second-floor Computer Lab.
Reference Librarian and Deputy Director Ellen Gilliam will give an overview of the self-paced tool, which helps job seekers with the entire process of looking for work.
“Career Transitions offers a complete set of tools, from assessing strengths and interests, to exploring career paths and companies, writing resumes and looking for educational opportunities for improving skills. Once the job seeker has worked through all the steps, he or she can search for and apply to jobs online using Career Transitions,” Gilliam said.
There will be time after the workshop to practice skills learned. Thereafter, the web site can be accessed from within the libraries or from any Internet-connected computer with a Lewiston or Auburn library card.
The workshop will be limited to 15 participants so as to provide everyone with an individual computer. In order to guarantee a space, those interested in participating should call or visit the LPL Reference Desk, 513-3135, to register in advance.
