Weekend benefit planned for Harrison man

WATERFORD — A weekend of events to benefit Ron Smith of Harrison, who has recently been diagnosed with cancer, will be held Friday and Saturday, July 23 and 24, at the Waterford Fairgrounds. Proceeds will help Smith with his medical expenses.

Cost for the weekend is $25 each person. Camping is available for $10 a night with water and electricity available. On Friday, there will be entertainment.

A Poker Run will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday. Any type of vehicle can participate. A horse shoe tournament will start at 2 p.m. and there will be a collection bin for a bottle drive throughout the day. A chicken barbecue will begin at 4 p.m. and a dance will start at 7 p.m., with the Monsters playing classic rock.

There will be an auction at 5 p.m., with a variety of items, including two $100 gift certificates for oil, camp rentals on Crystal Lake, house rentals in Florida, two flat screen televisions, lawn and garden products, golf gift certificates and many other items.
